Golf Pride grip shortage

Hi All,

I work in a large retail golf store in Canada. The management team had a meeting with Grip Pride and GP will not be sending us anymore grips for the immediate future. All their grips will be sent to OEMs. I have not heard about Lamkin, Super Stroke or Winn. 

I guess this follows the delays from the OEM regarding components and therefore orders.

Thanks for the heads up.  I have the z-grips in almost all my clubs.  When they wear out I guess I will have to go back to Iomics which are still my favorite grips of all time.

There’s alway fake Chinese grips on eBay. I got duped into buying some once, they actually perform well, but I would never intentionally get them again. 
 

if I could never buy another thing made in that commie hell hole again it would make me happy.

Our course just got in a big batch last week, not sure where they sourced them.

Yeah I have been sourcing for my shop the past couple of weeks and had to go to multiple sites to just find some to have in stock. Tour velvet is my best seller and I could only find a few even at retail sites. I've got three different orders from three different sources coming.

Went to 3 stores looking for GP Tour Velvet +4 midsize grips yesterday. Zero. Can't imagine that grip being wanted by OEMs.

I was told on Saturday the reason for the big shortage is that golf pride had (3) containers on a ship that sunk on its way to the US. 😳

They’ve been in back order for at least 2 months at every online place I’ve checked too from GP’s website, Golfworks, grips4less...can’t remember all the other sites I checked.  Dicks near me has the MCC +4’s in stock for now but at twice the cost...yeah I bought some 😂

Not sure why you can’t say you work at Golftown, but the grip sale probably wiped out your inventory as well.

I've noticed this at all of my local stores.  Dick's has been out for a few months.  Local club had some MCC+4s but they are running low.  Same for Golf Galaxy.

mnay other companies make the same grips as the TV, so there are plenty of options out there

I just ordered 10 tour wraps from an authorized online dealer.  Got them in 2 days.  Grips 4 Less

Time to invest in Lamkin.....

 

I heard about this container sinking a couple weeks ago.  All versions of Golf Pride grips are super picked over at all the locations near me as well.

Golf Pride is starting to catch up.  I've got a Golf Works trade account and we got an email a couple weeks ago saying that demand is through the roof and they (Golf Pride) are investing in more manufacturing capacity and are focusing on Tour Velvets first.  With that being said I would recommend everyone stock up if they can find their grip of choice.  Inventory levels are going to be spotty for the foreseeable future but like I said they are starting to catch up.

 

For those talking about switching to Lamkin good luck.  They are way behind and the only reason you can find them is because they haven't sold out yet.  Once the current inventory is burned off I don't have a whole lot of confidence in seeing anything but backordered for a while.

That's a great question. The answer is; as an employee of 'the store' there are so many rules employees must adhere to in social media, blogs and all other forms of media. We can't advertise or represent 'the company' without authorization, etc. I have no issue with those rules. I'm a full time part time guy and I would hate to lose my job over a post taken the wrong way by management. It's a WRXers dream - industry prices and all the toys all day everyday! 

And yes, the grip sale wiped out most of the stock.

Golf Pride shipping containers did in fact reach Davy Jones' Locker and I've heard that True Temper is another manufacturer that lost a significant amount of product to the container accident.  Don't forget about the Even Given incident in the Suez... it's been a snowball effect for sure.
