Last season she was playing a Spider X. It appears to be an older Odyssey this year, possibly an O--Works mallet. Marxman perhaps?

Definitely agree with Judy, the power lip outs are more numerous than I can remember in recent history. It's one thing to see one or two, but they're coming in bunches.

 

The course definitely has teeth. Lots of big numbers out there. The watering of the greens before the first round really took the bounce out of them. They're really firming up. A handful of long hitters are at or near the top, but it's not really a bombers course. Lots of woods, and a few irons, off the tee. 

 

Great bogey saves by Morgan and Jin Young on the 18th. Yikes.

 

Jessica really kept it together, and finished strong. Once again we're going to have an interesting final round. Will Brooke continue the hot putting? Not sure if Angela, Hannah, So Yeon, Morgan, or Tiffany have the firepower to come from 5+ strokes back. 66 was the best round today, and I think the course will play harder tomorrow.

 

Rough day for Sei Young. She needs to borrow Angela's wonky putter. Couldn't putt much worse.

 

The USC women are making a very nice showing this week. There's a chance one or more could grab a top 10.

 

Win or lose, Jessica is playing some great golf right now. If there was a captain for the Olympic team, she'd be a lock, and Jennifer would probably be sitting out.

I got it my ageing mind that this was a Friday to Sunday tournament! Woke up this morning (Australia time) with 3 rounds to catch up on. OK, now am with it.

Minjee had better watch out or Hannah will pass her in the World rankings. Minjee has been on a slow slide, while Hannah is on a slow climb. They're only 7 positions apart.

Jin Young Ko seems so ruthless and cut throat on the golf course.

 

Whilst off the course she seems very down to earth. I've watched a few of her YouTube videos from her channel and it seems like she mentors numerous young pros and talented juniors.

 

I can't imagine a World No. 1 in many sports doing that.

Sure seems like they're trying to prevent a record score for the tournament, or at least keep it close to the previous -14 mark.

Which is weird, some years are just an anomaly.  Brooke mentioned after her round 2 interview for her it was the less fiery fairways, she said prior years she'd have a tough time hold them even when clubbing down.  Though the course isn't very long so with receptive fairways  a few players would be bound to light it up without tough pin placements.

Brooke seems to pull a lot of her wedges. She should try opening her stance a little. Seems counterintuitive, but it seems to work.

I used to pull the wedges a lot too. I think the main thing is to fire the right side, especially the right knee toward the ball. It seems to limit the upperbody pulling across... that may be the reason your idea works... fire seems like such a strong word, but if you don't you get weak pushes.... All that and i cant even see the golf where i am at... Go BK!

I also had my wedges bent 2 degrees flat. That really helped with the pulls.

I really enjoy Judy Rankin's commentary, she was being nice when trying to say that JK needs a little fire lit, but she was spot on with her assessment

For those inclined to watch putting stats, etc.   it is interesting to see that this event seems to be one of Brooke Henderson's best events so far, and unsurprisingly, her putting has been really good.  The thing I found interesting is that she seems to have abandoned the left-hand low grip/technique on putts inside of 10 feet or so.  I do wonder at times how much focus is on the grip when a player of their calibre changes their putting vs. actually sinking the putts (i.e.: line, pace)?

Lots of golf left ... we will see.     Aside from a few well known exceptions, the players on tour are very diplomatic towards one another, when discussing who they enjoy playing with.  I think anyone who has played golf for any significant length of time, understands how group dynamics can seep into their own performance at times.  

 

So ... I wonder how much influence it has when players like Brooke and JYK are such good friends and they play together?   Just a random thought while they switch to a commercial!  😄

Brooke is turning into Carlota. Over 2 minutes to hit her tee shot on the 12th, and she still missed the green. Way too indecisive. She's going to get the group put on the clock.
