Best pants to wear on course/work

Recommended Posts

After scrolling through a couple pages, I didn't see any topics about the best pants to wear from work to the course.  I have evening leagues and normally go straight to the course from work.  Work dress code is business casual so I can get by wearing "tech" pants or chinos.  I already know most of you will say Lululemon, Bonobos, Rhone or any other luxury brand that costs $110+ per pair.  Here is exactly what I'm looking for:

1. Slim/tapered fit

2. Can be worn in warm/hot climates

3. Stretchy

4. Durable (won't pill after a couple washes)

5. Under $75

Stealth Plus 7.5* Accra TZ5 M5 65

Sim Ti 14* Fuji Speeder TR 757x

Titleist Tsr2 18* Fuji Pro 2.0 TS 8x

Mizuno 223 4-PW PX  LS 6.5

SM9 50/12F, 54/10S, 60/12D PX Wedge 6.5

Bettinardi Queen B 10 Blackout Stability Tour

The Old Navy Slim Go-Dry pants were great for this. Maybe not great for hot weather as breath-ability was decent but not great, but they had a little stretch and the price was right. Lots of guys here like them, long thread posted below but I'm not sure they're available anymore. They have something similar now but I've not tried it.

Otherwise I think Target makes a decent pair according to some here, but I've not tried it either.

To me the best option out there is the Greyson Montauk. Fantastic fit, great stretch and lightweight. They'll push your budget though, but if you wait for sales or search around you can find some for the price point you're looking for or below. I've got a bunch of pairs that I wear to work regularly and cannot recommend them enough.

Take a look at Target's All In Motion golf pants. They are basically the poor man's lululemon. I have a few pairs of both the Target ones and lulu ABC pants and honestly they aren't all that different.

However, I will say that they definitely lean more towards the casual side than the business side. Random small zipper pocket in the front, seam behind the knee, and etc...

We've still got them. Actually fixed the crappy mesh pockets so they're better now, in my opinion. And for guys that don't like the slim fit, we've got a straight fit online now. Same pant, just slightly wider leg.

These ones from Eddie Bauer are my go to pants for that situation. In fact I wear these just about anytime I wear pants on the course. Stretchy, very comfortable, breathable, water resistant, and a great price especially on sale.

the seam in the back of the knee is the only thing holding me back from buying ABC's. at least for the office.  what is with that anyway?

No idea... It doesn't seem to serve any functional purpose. I will say that it's much less noticeable on the darker colors. I have a pair in light grey and another in navy. You can't even tell the seam is there on the navy pants unless you get really close to the back of my legs.

I used to wear the Old Navy pants a ton. Good pricing and decent fit.

I'm now a full convert to Bonobos. It sounds like you need these pants for this season, however, after the season keep an eye out for the final sale on Bonobos. You can get the pants for $40-50.

Cheaper pants look too "techy". Get a quality blend that's not 100% poly. Problem with tech shirts/pants is they are very unflattering unless you are in great shape, and even then you look out of place professionally.

Best bet when budget conscious is to pick up quality clothing on sale. I know that isn't an immediate help, but building a proper wardrobe takes years.

I jumped on the Old Navy's based on the feedback from here, but what no one tells you is that they show wet spots when you sweat. For me that's at the top of belt line in the back. Not a good look. And they seemed to start fading after a handful of washes.

I've recently found the Good Threads 5 pocket hybrid pant and couldn't be happier on the course. Might be a little too casual for the office but you be the judge. Come in a few different cuts. I got the slim.

I really like Banana Republic Traveler pants. Fit great, plenty of stretch. And they don’t sound like you’re wearing a windbreaker on your legs.

They are listed at about $95 or so, but they are always on sale and you can usually find a decent selection on the clearance rack too.  I bought another two pairs a week ago that averaged $35.
