Also, the Saturday finish at the Hugel allows for another day for international travel to Singapore. They lose a day crossing the international dateline, so a Sunday finish wouldn't give them much tim

To be fair, the only reason it got attention this past week is because it was in primetime on the mainland due to being in Hawaii.  Even in a Wed-Sat format, it still would have been lost in the wash

To be fair, the only reason it got attention this past week is because it was in primetime on the mainland due to being in Hawaii.  Even in a Wed-Sat format, it still would have been lost in the wash (outside of Wed) with both the PGA Tour and Champions Tours both playing had the tournament been going on during a normal time window.

If the LPGA wants to adopt a "new" layout schedule to create more eyeballs on TV, they should adopt something like Monday through Thursday for their events.   Or at least some of their events.  You'd think Golf Channel would be all over that so they could shelve the constant re-runs of 5 and 10-year old "Playing Lessons" shows that they run from a Monday through Wednesday, and the LPGA and its players could get more exposure for themselves and their brand.

IIRC the Wednesday-Saturday format was/is done with the LPGA so certain events end on Sunday in the tournament sponsor's home country on live television. Especially in Asia. For instance Lotte with Japan and Hugel-Air Premia with South Korea the last two weeks. 13 hour time difference between the east coast of the USA with Japan and South Korea.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lotte_Championship

The title sponsor of the tournament is Lotte, an industrial conglomerate based in South Korea and Japan. The presenting sponsor from 2012 to 2014 was J Golf, a Korean broadcaster. In 2012, the LPGA Lotte Championship was one of two LPGA tournaments in the United States presented by J Golf. From 2015 to 2018, the presenting sponsor was Hershey.

To accommodate Korean television, the tournament begins on Wednesday and concludes on Saturday.

So it looks like Wed-Sat is more of exception than the norm.

I’d be okay if LPGA has Sat finish. Outside majors, 3rd round is usually not that exciting. I’d prefer to watch final LPGA round on Sat than 3rd round on PGA TOUR.

I recognize there are probably a lot of logistical reasons not to stage Wed-Sat for most golf tournaments. So I’m not going to go there.

I like it.  It gives the LPGA Wednesday to themselves and I think a lot of people would be interested in seeing two days of tournament finishes.  I think it’s an especially successful idea against lesser PGA events where a Saturday watching Cink battle Corey Conners just isn’t that much of a draw.
