Hey guys, so I’m in the market for a driving iron at the moment. Currently using a Titleist 712U 3-Iron (21*) and want to look for some more like that driving iron but want like a 2 or even willing to a 1 iron. Km not looking for the newest or the fanciest technology, just want to know what the best driving iron of all time is. What do you guys think?

Bridgestone AirMuscle. Awesome club, waaaaay ahead of its time.    Hard to find nowadays.

I'm still gaming the Ping Rapture DI.  It is oldest club in my bag - 7 years.  Keep debating a hybrid, but can't seem to find anything better.

if you want a driving iron you want the John Daily "0" iron.   just slightly harder to hit than a 1966 Wilson Staff One iron.     but man when your game is on fire, this will put it out.

There’s not going to be a consensus as one is best for everyone. The Gapr Lo is pretty similar to the SIM UDI which I found to be very good. The Titleist stuff, U500 and U510, seem to be well received here.

Old school (and inexpensive) - Ping Eye 2 and OG Big Bertha, both available in 16 degree one irons.

New school - Callaway X Forged are really nice, but of course I’m partial.

Rare & EXPENSIVE - Tour issue Callaway 16 degree Apex DI from about 2015.

Just flat out wacky - Lynx Stinger 12 degree!  This has to be just way too much fun to hit on a firm & fast golf course!

I heard a lot of good things about that one. Also the RSI UDI. Cant find these anywhere tho

I was thinking about selling it but I know I could never get the combo back so it's not worth the $150 or whatever I could get for it.

Nothing wrong with a Gapr Lo.  I have the 2 and it is solid off the tee for me when I put it in the bag over my hybrid if the wind is up.  Not an 'All Timer', but capable for sure.

"Best of all time" suggests an answer that has no bearing on those of use that use them.  Since I took up golf 30yrs back I have relied on either a 1 iron or 2 iron.  There is only what fits my eye and does what it's told. lol

I started out with Mizuno 15' 1 iron and S300, to MacGregor 17' MB 2 iron and Rifle 6.5, to original Callaway X-Forged 18' 2 iron and PX 6.0, to my current 718 T-MB 17' 2 iron with 90g Tensei AV White AM2 Iron "S."

I would say the Titleist 510 is easily the longest most forgiving. The udi is very accurate...

I haven't seen anything on the market that was even worth looking at.  Good luck with P790.   Too bad TM doesn't make a 2 or 3 iron to 790 TI set, that would be comparable.

The 718 model is 39.5" and seems a bit easier to smack well compared to its 716 predecessor with PX 6.0 which I forgot to list.   Though T-MB clubs were pricey compared to others, Titleist 718 T-MB is overall a better, more workable club.   It's my opinion, 718 T-MB was the brain child that led to U500 & U510.  I've had 4 shafts in it, all performed well except i95cw; it lasted a week, bend profile was wrong for me.  Started with PX 6.0, then to i110cw "S" to my current shaft.  Which, by the way, has helped me to hit the longest yardages, out to 240+.   It's nearly a no-brainer club - grab it and whack it... :p

Good luck - PT.

Aaaa ok. Yea im not looking for the best one in specific, more like what yall like best for you, so I can kind of get an idea.

I recently picked up a 21* UDI from New Level Golf.  Check out the NLU-01.  Lot of options for shafts as well.  Kicker is that it's cheaper than any of the major OEMs out there and perform just as well. FYI, I've tested the latest and greatest offerings from Titleist, TM, etc.

PING G425 Crossover 2 iron with Alta CB shaft has been an awesome, awesome club for me.  Feel isn't great away from the sweet spot but mishit shots absolutely go - far and straight.  Every time I mishit one I think, "oof, that felt like crap," and look to see the ball on a great trajectory right in the direction I was aiming.  Of course, when you flush it, it feels great - quite crisp.

I recall having a Mizuno MP-FliHi with an S300 shaft back in the day.  Wanted to love it, just couldn't make it go straight.  Slices all day.
