Yep, Crimean War. Charged straight into the Russian artillery. Bloody stupid thing to do, but it did give us cardigans, which Arnold Palmer wore with such panache.

Now, I wouldn't say the ANZACS at Gallipoli had a affection for futile noble death. I think they were bloody furious at being sent there.

The officers still ordered them over the top.  Same deal with the cavalry charge.  The common soldiers never want to follow those orders.  For them there has never been anything noble about dying.

So .... tiger.  I wonder if he will still be playing the same irons when he comes back ?  Seems like I recall there being talk of yet another revision being in the works.

Several of you have posted your experiences with serious leg fractures with a variety of results. My question for you is are you now able to walk and play 18 holes for 4 consecutive days?

I believe that is going to be Tiger’s biggest obstacle.

Let's not forget he had another back surgery "cleanup" in December not long after the PNC Father/Son event. How that factors in to his recovery especially after the wreck at this time is unknown. That surgery alone was keeping him out for months for the start of 2021.

Fractured my tibia, lower leg between knee and ankle at the age of 12.  Took several years before I felt 100% on it again.  And even then still tended to protect it.  I can't imagine the difficulty and recovery at Tiger's age.  I'm not so sure we will see him play next season.

Ya, I’d think he will need a year to just maybe swing but be riding a cart for the most part then gradually be able to walk 18, then walk and play 18…for 4 days straight.

He can’t even walk yet!

I fractured my left tibia playing basketball and discovered I had bone cancer when they imaged the injury.  Granted, I was a kid and that was 30 years ago, but I'm still golfing today and recently walked 8 rounds in a five day stretch.

Lol. Yea. Me too.  I wanted to mention Constantinople as well , but figured I’d upset some Istanbul fanboys here and cause a curfuffle.

Lol.  You're right, but walking 18 holes for four days is not the same for wrx hacks as it is to play at the level of a PGA Tour Pro and be competitive.  There's no margin for error.

Agreed. And the four days of the event is just a part of it unless some think he could get by with no practice sessions and no practice rounds on site at events.

Since he's an athlete and has the best recovery team possible + the dedication, i expect full walking within a month since he's now putting weight on it, which would be 6-7 months post op, at 9 months walking stamina should be back, and back on tour at 12 months, around Feb-March 2022

Possible scenario. Also the most optimistic.

Love it.  And can't wait to see it.  Tiger will always move the needle so any attempt at a comeback anytime will draw eyes.  Everyone is going to want to market the s**t out of this one.

I’m thinking it’s going to be Feb next year that he can even play golf at 60-70% and walk 4 days while doing it.

Another 6 months to be able to go out on tour and do the above without embarrassing himself. Maybe play a silly season event in late 2022.

But 2023 before he’s ready to actually travel and play big events on tour.

I personally can’t wait for the comeback. I read a comment on yahoo sports this morning that said “ I’m glad he’s hurt.  Finally we got to a place where we don’t have to hear his name everyday when he’s not in contention , golf can become pure again “.  Ever want to strangle a poster ?  😎.   Those hater tears will be sweet !

Lol.  I laugh because my grandfather refused to be called “ mr Hall “ as he said that was his father.

He Once had a “ who’s on first “ round and round conversation with a door to door Bible salesmen who asked for “ mr hall “ when knocking on the door.    He told the guy that he wasn’t there ( he’d been dead 20 years at the time )  , so the guy asks “ ok well what’s your name “. He replied “ Milton Hall “   Puzzled. The salesman says “ you’re who I’m looking for “. My grandpa says “ well you asked for mr Hall , not me “. And round and round they went.

He did eventually buy a family Bible from him. But the poor guy earned every cent.  🤪

One thing with injuries that most don't understand is the reasonably terrible condition a person is in compared to a professional athlete. These guys bounce back from injuries that we can't imagine. Take a typical 35 year old and give him an ACL compared to a 35 year old RB with an ACL and you will certainly have different recoveries and that doesn't even factor in the economics of recovery that the massive difference in income creates.

I think he will be physically able to come back if he so desires, but every year it gets harder because he is not only recovering but getting older every day.

I don’t think there such a thing as a 35 yo NFL running back ; )

Tiger, even before the crash was in no better shape than….I am 😃

And I’m 52!

The conditioning and athleticism of guys of tour, even Rory or BK, is no better than a common gym rat who played sports in school.

Don’t get me wrong, these guys have elite skills as far as aspects of athleticism related to the golf swing.

But look at Rory. He tried to just play some pick up “footy” with his buddies and blew up his ankle

My concerns about the whole thing are of the more boring variety. Tiger has always been someone that got himself into playing shape with lots of reps, he never seemed to work like a Fred Couples who could roll out of bed and go straight to competition. Every injury impacts his ability to get in those reps, and thus starts eating away at his sharpness in competition. He found a way through it in the 2018/2019 season and broke through, and that still lead to another back surgery. Will he able to find the way through the injury woods again? I think it all hinges on whether this leg damage further limits his ability to practice or not once it's healed.

I would mildly disagree. They work out daily. You can question the intensity but they all do. They have access to hyperbaric chambers and the best trainers and rehab therapists in the world not even factoring in the quality of their surgeons.
