How important is lie angle for a 54 degree wedge?

Hi!

I just found a used PING Glide Forged 54 degree for a really good price. Shaft and bounce is spot on what I want.
Thing is it is in red dot (1 degree flat), whereas I play my iron set in green dot (2 degrees upright).
Now, my other specialty wedges are neutral (just bought them off the rack, non-customized), so do you think the 1 degree flat would hurt me?

I intend to use it for both full shots, three-quarter shots and around the green.

Best bet is try it for a few shots on grass and see. You can judge by impact location and soles pattern of turf interaction.

me personally I don’t go 2 up on all. My wedges are around standard snd my long irons are around 1 up. 2 up from 9 iron to 5 iron.    Ping stuff can be bent easy enough by a competent shop , contrary to what folks may say. I’d just try and adjust accordingly to what I saw.

I’ve read that most people play their wedges a degree or two flatter than their irons due to a higher percentage of less than full swings. I intentionally ordered my Ping Glide 3.0 54 at standard while my irons are 2 up. No issue what so ever around the green or on 3/4swings which is about as much as I’ll go with the 54.

Using the iron adjustments for the wedges is not really a good approach.  Too many different possibilities for length and shaft selection and variations in stock lie angles when comparing irons to wedges so what one might need for lie angle relative to the irons can vary quite a bit.  And that's just full swing shots.   The swing and delivery will vary quite a bit on top of that for partial shots.    But that's just the ideal.   A wedge being off for lie angle is only going to be offline a couple of yards per degree the lie angle is off.  And on top of that it will be a consistent miss so fairly easy to adjust to for those accurate enough to even notice the difference.   For the OCD folks, go ahead and test using the vertical whiteboard marker on the ball.  But most don't have to worry about it too much.

This is exactly what works best for most players.

As for how important it is for the lie angle of a 54 degree wedge to be correct... it’s one of the most important clubs in the bag for it to be accurately adjusted to fit your technique.

Bought it and tried it on our practice area. Worked very well.

To be honest I didn't feel to much difference in feel and forgiveness, compared to my old PING Glide.

But it will go in my bag on Sunday!
