Like Mike from TXG this would more likely replace my three wood instead of driver. I only use my 3 wood to tee off and this would be a more forgiving and longer club option when not using driver.

I liked watching Mike demo this club. Gives you more of an idea of what to expect.

I like watching Matty swing but it's like what ever you put in his hands he bombs it 330+

I'm still trying to figure out the reason behind the mini driver. Didn't they used to be known as Thrivers?

I guess it's the whole shallow face...

I think the ideal use for them is exactly the way Phil Mickelson is using it.  He has a long driver setup for holes that have some room in the fairway and distance is at a premium.  Then he has his secondary driver (mini driver) for tighter tee shots where he still wants driverish distance but a better shot at hitting the fairway.

I'll wonder for us mere mortals, how the mini driver will play in driver length. Does the consistency come mainly from the shorter length or from the smaller/lighter head and slower swing speed.

Exactly what I said earlier in this thread, but it's a use/strategy for the better player (can even set long to fade, short to draw). I think it also serves those with mental blocks when using their standard length 460cc drivers.

The shorter shaft definitely plays a larger role in the consistency.

It sets up as an even more attractive prospect for me, due to a relatively short optimum club length for maximum swingspeed.  Playing a 43.5" driver is nothing new to me.  🙂

I am wondering how to approach it shaft wise, go with a driver shaft weight or 3 wood?

Something like a Ventus Red or Tour AD IZ would be really sweet high spin combo...

I see almost everyone talking about this being used as a 2 wood, a strong 3 wood, a secondary driver for different conditions...

Am I the only one who wants to just straight up replace my driver with this? I already hit my 3 wood as far as my TS3. I've already owned a 13.5º strong 3 wood. I just want a smaller club head size. I had the SLDR TP 430 before my TS3. Loved it. I hit my M2 Tour 3 wood (156cc head) just as far as my driver, with better dispersion. I feel like an 11.5º, 300cc head would be absolutely perfect for my 1 and only driver.

Nope you aren't the only one looking at it as a driver replacement.  I rock the OO as my driver currently.  11.5* w/ a VA Slay 65 Four (stiff flex).  I find it is great for those that have a negative AoA.  I can retain ball speed, keep spin below 3K, and get pretty close to driver distance out of it.  So I am looking to see if this can knock out my OO as my driver.

Last time I went to the Trackman with my driver...I had a 4.4º AoA on it, average spin around 2800. But the thing with my driver is the mishits are so much worse than mishitting my 3 wood. I only keep the driver in play because I usually get a 320 yard drive once a round. But the others will range from like 240-280. No consistency. Plus, I fade my driver while drawing my 3-wood. 3-wood attack angle is 1º and 2900 spin. Last time I played with it, I had two drives slightly over 300 yards. So I often ask myself why I even bother with a 460cc driver in the first place.

I'm also 5'4". Not many adult male golfers have that issue. 460cc heads look HUGE at address for me. I'm like a foot closer to the ball than most people are. The bigger driver heads look even bigger to me.

I hit my M3 440 pretty well but have to admit it's a bit more challenging to work the ball right to left compared to my Titleist 905S and 905T.  I'm curious how the 300 Mini will be compared to my M3 in terms of distance and the ability to work the ball.

I no longer play from the tips so insane distances isn't necessary for me.  However a significant distance loss is present with the 300 Mini then it's not worth it for me. I have a 3 wood I can hit from the tee and fairway.  I am not looking for a 3 wood replacement.  I'm considering a driver I can work the ball with more ease.

The TXG video was pretty interesting, especially because the swing speed is more relatable than most online club reviews. The TXG review definitely had the 300 playing more as a 3 wood replacement than a driver replacement. If I was that guy, I would not take my driver out of the bag for it.

Of course, any review is made subject to how that particular person delivers the ball, even if your swing speed is similar. My swings peed is pretty similar to the guy hitting balls for TXG, however my AoA is more neutral/downward with my tee shots. I'm going to try this one out next Tuesday at a TM fitting and see how it works for me.

Anyone like me thinking about buying one?

  • Long hitter playing short courses (around 6000y)
  • Driver is too long, 3 wood doesn't gain me much in terms of accuracy
  • Visually, modern drivers at 460cc are just ridiculous looking
  • Want to minimize tee shot decisions (ex. either mini-driver or utility iron)

I’m similar with the shorter courses…It also means I have little use for 200+ yard clubs in the bag. So hardly any need for 5 woods or long hybrids. I could easily open a spot in the bag for this club at the course I play the most.

I pretty much can only fade a driver with some slicing on misses. So if I was able to draw this mini driver easier I would love it on holes with OB right.
Regardless it’s a neat club. might get it just for the fun of it

100%.

My course plays at 6100 yds.  There are four holes that favor driver, and even then, those 3 of 4 holes are tight and pretty much dead if you are off of the fairway.

Will any retailers be carrying this club for sale? Or is it online only?

My local shop had order some a while back so it'll be at retail just probably won't be that widely available due to limited demand
