I bought and tried the Bertha Mini several years ago but it didn't impress or work for me. Haven't gone back to a mini driver since.

They have changed quite a bit since those I think. Still totally a niche product but I had an OG and it was great! I just wanted to change a few things in my bag.

I'm a long time Callaway driver player and really did not like the Bertha Mini. I thought it would be perfect for me, but it was shorter than my driver and way less accurate than my 3-wood. In fact, I was off the planet with the thing. It was a really useless club for my game. I also hated the feel/sound. I loved everything about the TM OO, I just needed a little higher launch and spin. The 13.5 degree may have been perfect, but I never got the chance to use it. If they make this model a little more playable for us plebs, I'll be ecstatic.

Once I look at a custom shaft order I won’t get this until September lol!

Do we know what to expect with the standard shaft offering? Similar to the sim2 fairways?

It’s three wood length so any three wood shaft is available.

300 cc vs. 325 for the OG.

Where as the OG was more little driver. This is more large fairway wood. Think two wood. It has a different sole that is supposed to be better off the fairway. Slightly shallower face compared to the OG.

OG Original One driver was 275cc per TM spec sheet.

They keep making these small headed drivers at 45 inches, and what i want is a 13 to 15 degree 460cc driver designed to play at 42ish inches at a proper swingweight

I had one last year for a bit. Visibly smaller than some old TM drivers I still have (Retail R300, Retail R320 TI and true tour issue R500) around that size.

Cool. Supposedly the new one is smaller than the OG. I held it in my hands and it looks good. I had the OG as well but without them side by side I could not tell..

I'm a big TM OO mini driver fan. I have two now a 13.5 and 11.5.

The OO is the best driver I've ever played and I'm looking forward to what a new one might look like. I think TM hit a home run with this driver but it continues to live on the fringes. I tried dabbling in the 460's again this year and hit the Cobra Rad XB but I had to bring it back. It looked like a pregnant elephant to me and sounded like one as well. Went back to my little OO and the familiar sounding thwack followed by a lower bullet down the middle.

I'm hunting for the right shaft now, but I might wait to get properly fit in the new mini. If it looks like the new Sim 2 crown I'm sold. The only thing I don't like about the OO is the black crown with red accents.

I’ve gained all the mini drivers and the OO is definitely the best. The lower spin easily makes it a true mini driver. The other spun significantly more which made them big 3 woods. And by that I mean not as long.

Sorry If this isn't the right place to address my question... but what is the primary purpose of a mini driver? supposed to help with control off the tee being a smaller head? a bit more length from the deck than a 3W? What type of player benefits the most from this type of offering?

Hard to say. I think it is mainly a fun option. Shorter shaft at standard 3 wood length with a larger head should offer more control.

I had the OG in my bag as basically a second driver option. Phil carried one at the masters which was fun.

It can be versatile if hittable off the deck. The SLDR mini spun enough to hit these towering cuts with the Blueboard I had and off the deck too.  Great for doglegs in some cases

This only sells to the mass if they truly get a lot of weight low so it can be hit well off the turf. Enter V-Steel. We shall see if they pull it off, otherwise its just a short driver without all the forgiveness a 460 head provides. If its a miss, a better solution is to add a bunch of weight to a 460 head, use a 3 wood length shaft, and have a very short 2nd 460 driver in the bag.

So at ~100cc more head volume than a modern 3 wood and roughly the same length. What are you guys primarily using it for? Just something off tee when you want less than driver and more than 3 wood? Or perhaps an alternative for the guy we all know that primarily uses 3 wood off the tee instead of driver??

That is what I used the previous version for. This one is supposed to be easier to hit off the turf. Redesigned sole etc. I could and did hit the previous off the turf as well but it was a bit trickier.

Its definitely niche and hard to say what everyone uses it for... I realized I dont use 3w ever. The guys I play with aren't skilled enough to play long courses so having a 3w to reach a par 5 in 2 was never an option for me

I dropped the 3w and had a 13.5 mini driver for control off the tee. Its more accurate off the tee than a 3w and honestly more accurate and forgiving than driver for me

It was my favorite club to hit honestly and I enjoyed every minute of it. But I did realize its a one trick pony so I went with a 2h at 17* to cover both tee shots and fairway use
