Ping G425 LST 3 Wood

I just recently got the G425 LST driver and absolutely loving it. I am waiting to be fitted for woods/hybrids. I'm going into the fitting open minded but might opt for the 3W MAX instead of LST as it's more forgiving off the grass.

Would you say automatically that if you are fitted to LST driver then wood should be LST as well? Would someone who got fitted/own all G425 woods share their lineup?

I have had the past two lst versions in the driver. I was thinking I would go lst in the 3 wood as I did with the 410 but I was wrong. The 425 max 3 wood is so easy to hit. Higher launching for me with only a touch more spin. It was a no brainer for me and the 425 max 3 wood is my favorite club now.

you found the 425 3 wood to be much different from the 410?

Crossfield's recent review found them to perform virtually identical with the Max being easier to hit. He basically said there's no reason to choose the LST unless you want to look down at a smaller head. Loving the Max 3 wood personally.

425 LST driver , MAX 3 wood here. Same as above, the max 3 wood is stupid easy to hit high and soft off the deck. Tee it up though and you can still hit it flat with less spin.

I opted for the LST 3 wood because I mostly use it as a second tee option. It is very rare I need to hit it off the deck, and if I am needing something into a par 5, my G425 hybrid is plenty club 99% of the time. That being said, it is certainly not hard to hit off the deck by any means, and the new tech really helps shots low on the face retain ball speed.

I recently purchased the G425 Max 3 wood after testing it vs the G425 LST, TSI2 and SIM2. It is by far the most forgiving and easiest to hit fairway wood I've ever hit. I love the shallow profile off grass and felt the max was a little more forgiving with a higher ball flight than the LST. Both are great options, but I was willing to sacrifice a few hundred RPMs in spin for the added forgiveness. BTW, for driver my two finalist were the G425LST and Epic Speed (ultimately went with Speed w/ Ventus Blue because of ball speed). Good luck!

I just hit them pretty extensively yesterday.  Shaft will make a difference of course, but I hit them both the Rogue White 130 80TX and the G425 Max was plenty low spin enough with that shaft where it'd be a weapon off the tee or off the deck.  G425 LST with that shaft would have been slightly better off the tee, but not as playable off the deck.

Again though, if you have the LST head with a mid spin shaft, then that might offset enough, so really depends what kind of shaft you go with.  If you like low/low shafts in your 3w or 4w, then the G425 Max is great, will be easy to elevate, stay in the air, and still low spin off the tee for great carry & rollout.

Always best to jump in the sim though and see what numbers you get, but this was my experience.

TM Qi10 LS 8.25°, Ventus Black 6X, tipped 1”, 44.75”

TM BRNR Mini Driver at 12° (HWF), HZRDUS Black RDX 70 TX, tipped 1", 43.75"

TM Stealth+ 5w at 18.25°, HZRDUS Black RDX 80 6.5, tipped 1”, 42.5”

2023 Titleist T100 (4-GW), PX 6.0, +1/4”

Vokey SM10 54.12(D), 60.08(M), PX 6.0, +1/4"

I have the 425LST 3 wood and love it, its easy off the deck and off the tee its great.  I have always liked the lower spinning 3 woods (Sub Zero, Sim, etc...) and this is the easiest one to hit off the deck and minimizes my left miss

Ive always played the low spin fairways as well. I’ve got an LST version on the way to pair with the ventus blue. We’ll see how it goes.

I had an in depth fitting for the 425 Max driver. Wasn’t able to get fitted for fairway woods but will verify next time I get fitted. It’s about a 3 hour drive. But I bought the 425 max 5 wood sight unseen and love it. Just as easy and forgiving as the driver. Long as well. Lofted it down to 16.5 and put a low launch shaft and it’s stupid easy to hit.

Curious what shaft is everyone using with this 3 wood?

I have the g425 max 3 and 5 woods with the Aldila Rogue White shaft in both of them. I really like the feel of them and they work well for my swing.

I just got a lst. I put a small batch smoke yellow in it. Pretty legit 3 wood. Great and workable of the tee and easy to hit off the turf.

Have the driver, 3 wood and hybrids all with Tour stiff shaft. All fantastic - switched from G410s with Evenflow Blacks and all feel just a little bit more solid in the head with the slightly softer shaft being easier to hit but still keeps spin down and flight penetrating - for reference driver ss around 105
