i210 magic dust

There is another post on here which I'm to lazy to find for you (sorry) that talks about the i210 delivery times.  I ordered 4/16 with expected ship date 6/15 quoted from 2nd swing.  So average seems to be 8-10 week from order to ship.  So I'm still waiting.  I don't exchange clubs often, however this taught me to have a old back up set.

I'm always surprised to see the amount of tour players who play the i210s. When I've seen them in person, they look quite large.

When one earns a living firing at pins, a little forgiveness goes a long way.

I’m sure this has been addressed somewhere, but I want to grab a set from PING. Any idea the time frame? Heard 10-12 WEEKS for irons?? By then it just makes sense to wait for Titleist and I59 in the fall

I ordered through a local fitter in late may, was told July 1 . I called to check a week ago and was told aug 1.

Love mine, played some of my best golf under pressure with them.  Wish they held up better.   They get beat up looking with the finish they use.  Still feel great!

just got mine 2 weeks ago from Ping (2 month wait) . Even after 2 rounds they are already showing a lot of wear. Very happy with the soft feel. I got a little crazy with the shafts (X100). I hit them fine but i think I prefer the feel of a stiff iron shaft better. Can anyone recommend a stiff shaft for these for a higher-speed, lower hcp player? I am also worried about ballooning after coming from x100. KBS tour stiff maybe? Modus? thanks

S300/S400 is my vote played the standard and DG120 versions, I am a higher SS player but x100 isn’t the right feel for me though I have tried a few times. I really didn’t get along with the Modus shafts I tried either…but maybe I’m weird

Came to the i210 from JPX 919 Tour and couldn't be happier. Have these with the Modus 120X and have never been more accurate or confident with irons. Extremely happy with my decision to go this direction and won't be changing anytime soon.

I just ordered that exact same combo. How are the launch and spin with that shaft?  I got the TX cause I got paranoid with too much spin lol I hope I don’t regret not going with the X

I bought a set pre-season.  My first new set in over a decade.  They hit the ball very high. Very very very high and I have trouble bringing the flight down on them (not usually a problem for me).  I did hit the fitting club pretty high as well, but I had thought that I would be able to knock the shot down when needed but I just can't with these.  I have the KBS Tour 130X shaft in them.  After a lot of range balls and 20 rounds I am starting to think I either need a completely different shaft in them, or they don't really work for me.  I am coming from a set of i3 blades with Aerotech 110 X shafts (125 in the wedges).  I haven't hit the i3 blades in 2 years though as they are in a different location than I am right now but will be hitting them again in August so I can compare.  I do have a set of FC115CW X shafts that I could install in them... but Ping hates a reshaft they haven't done.

Just curious has anyone complained to PING regarding how easy the coating wears off on the irons?

I have 20 rounds on mine and except for a couple clubs that hit a rock, they basically look brand new.  Do you have a picture? Here's my PW.  Arccos tells me I have hit it 71 times during rounds and I have hit it easily 100+ times on the range.  Yes, it's actually a Glide 3.0 PW but same coating and my i210s look the same.  Added shots of the 9i, hit 86 shots on course in the mud, dirt, and from fairway bunkers, and the range.  The small defect is from hitting a rock when hitting out of a hazard and any club would have been damaged from that.  The face still looks new.  I'm a fairly good ball striker hitting ball then the ground so maybe that makes a difference?  I also clean the face each shot when hitting at a range.  Helps me to pace myself and to take care of my clubs.

I came from some CTL X's in the JPX 919T and had some concern about spin as well. These launch lower then the CTL and although spin is a hair higher, I have absolutely zero issues playing in the wind as I can flight these with less effort then the 919/CTL combo I had previously. Driver speed is anywhere from 110-113 and the X fits me just fine. That being said, I fit better into the 115-120G range for irons, so the TX at 126G would be far too much for me. I haven't lost any distance with the Modus and a much improved dispersion and overall consistency through the bag.

Thanks- i may end up back with S300 (played them for 15 years) but I like the feel of kbs/modus so much better and i think i'll enjoy golf more long term with those. Not worried about higher ball flight as long as there is no distance loss. puzzles me when people complain about hitting irons too high. I want to hit my irons high! it really helps attacking pins with hard surfaces and fast greens

Yeah that’s the thing with those shafts I’ve always heard of such great dispersion, looking forward to trying them! Glad ur enjoying yours

Have you looked into the CTapers? I have always had a high ball flight to the point is shorts my distances dramatically. When getting fitted (I went i500) these shafts brought my flight down, lowered my dispersion and gave me a much more projected flight. Some of it may be the head of course, but it's much different than my i15s with S300U's. My low HCP friends say it feels like swinging rebar, but it works for me. I do wish I had tested a little more with the R flex, as the S feels like I have to go after it a little more.

Has anyone played both these and the Bridgestone j15 cb? I love my stones but wondering what if anything would be gained with a possible switch. Any comparisons would be appreciated!

I have played both.  Still have my J15 CB, moved the i210.  Honestly, I do not think there is anything to gain going i210 over the J15 CB.  The Stones are insanely forgiving for what they are IMO and the sole design is better for more conditions than the i210.  I found the 210 tough in firm conditions due to the bounce and they do seem to fly pretty high.  That's a good thing in the long irons but didn't love it as I got down the bag.  Distance control with the 210 is great, consistent, but if you are looking for these to be like a GI iron in a player package, I do not think that is really what they are.  I find my S55 to be just as forgiving, but for me, better through the turf.

They are great irons, but so are the J15s.... if you are having the urge to try them I'd say, do it.  They seem to surprise some as being a really good fit, just don't move the clubs you currently use until you have a few rounds on the 210s.

Yes, the TM guys fit me into the $-Taper X as did Cobra (slightly lower launching than the C-Taper).  The Ping fitter was so excited with me hitting my 7 iron 135ft up and pretty long with the KBS 130 Tour X, she highly recommended them.  I regret not trying more shafts in them now.  I should search for a launch comparison between the 130 Tour X, the Aerotech X shafts, $-Taper, etc.  Actually, I have but they are not all typically on the same charts so hard to compare. Note: I did find a pretty nice comparison on MGS and the C-taper and Aerotech both launched the lowest.  Aerotech was extremely consistent with spin no matter what the swingspeed, PX6.0 with higher swingspeeds had the tightest dispersion, by far.  Wish they had a x and 6.5 comparison as well.

Had mine for 2 1/2 years. Great clubs, excellent results. As to the finish, come on. They're golf clubs. You know, things you bang into the ground to send a hard ball into the air. The finish is fine, durable and as designed. Ever look at the clubs pros hit to make a living? Not museum pieces but working tools for artisans. Whining about bag chatter and dings is whacked....

I will say the old bead blasted "wrx" finish lasts nearly forever.  I'm still playing i3 blades - hundreds of rounds and they look as good now as they did after 5 rounds.

Chiming in to confirm these indeed do have magic dust. My iron play has never been better, and played the best round of my life with these yesterday - 72, and Arccos said my approach game was a +5 handicap 😳. These are just so dang consistent. Absolutely no surprises yardage-wise with these. I know my numbers, and if I miss, I know what’s going to happen. I haven’t had a comprable iron in the past, to be fair, but putting these in turned my iron play from a weakness to a strength.

I've said that the spin regulates yardage.......you don't deviate from stock number into or downwind......VERY CONSISTENT with a true flight.....NOT a super strong distance iron from my perspective but the trust of a good strike going the proper number is so very satisfying!

I only get out once a week on public courses and play off about 12 and while everyone, including subtle nudging by my fitter, was suggesting I move more towards a GI club, I tried 10 different clubs in the fall and settled on the i210s. I find them visually appealing which gives me a lot of confidence at address, especially the lower offset and simple, uncluttered design.  Distances were the same as my current clubs but with about 800 rpm more spin in the 7 iron and a higher ball flight. We've been locked down much of the spring in Ontario but the few times I've been out have left me with a smile on my face. Being able to hit the ball higher and coming in soft is so pretty to watch for a guy that's used to a lower ball flight.  It's very subjective but I find them very forgiving and have good feel for where I hit the ball on the face, something I never got with my older GI sets of clubs. As a mid-handicapper I don't hit every shot flush and a couple of times a round I find myself saying, "I thinned that" or "I mishit that" and it still finds it's way around the green somehow.

I played an outing with a guy still using early 2000’s Ping irons and I play with a coworker that does as well.  I feel like the i210’s I just ordered will be with me for a long time.  Maybe in a backup set that I keep with my family in AZ for winter escape but still in my possession. They seem to have that kind of cult following. I already play g410 woods so yeah I guess I’m going to be almost all Ping in the bag.
