And what is the playing difference you have seen between the two?

Night and day. Not quite a fair comparison because it wasn't straight from one to another.

Ping (forever), Nike Vapor Pro Combo (2 months), VR Pro Combo (2 months), to KZG combo (a month). The 4 and 5 I just built yesterday.

I was trying the 4 and 5 at 6 iron length, but decided to build them stock with the "good" shafts.

The biggest difference is the miss. Too far off the toe and you will lose 30 yards (and feel it in your hands and arms). But underestimate the distance and hit that baby flush and watch it clear the green with ease and hope there isn't trouble on the other side. But that sound, that sound of that solid thwack.

Some amazing shots, but if you slack, you will be shanking it. I enjoy the effort and the results are rewarding. I might not play the full blade set in the end, but it's fun.

<edit> to be fair, the Pings were great when I played once a year at most. In the 24ish years I've had them, I might have played 2 dozen rounds. I have played more than that this month alone and have since last summer.

Play what you love, love what you play. While I don't think anyone wants to score higher, there are other reasons for enjoying golf beyond the final number on the scorecard. Well, assuming you're paying to play golf rather than the other way around.

Everyone has different metrics for what is important. Does how a club looks in the bag have an influence on score? Probably not (well, maybe some quantum entanglement thing...). Does how a club looks in the bag influence a person's perception of "playing golf"? I think it can. And due to the psychological nature of the beast, intangibles from a physics perspective can have real effects on the human holding the club. If I don't think I can hit the club, I likely won't hit the club. That doesn't mean that we go full Music Man and embrace the think-school of swinging. But different people are affected in different ways.

That said, I'm selling my recently acquired 5H and 6H as I'm hitting the ZX5 6i really well and...well...I prefer looking down at an iron. Will I be losing a stroke here and there? Maybe. Will I be happier hitting the iron over the hybrid? Probably. Should I buy a 3i and get rid of all my hybrids? Well, at that point I'll probably see a much bigger performance drop off and for whatever reason I hit the 3H really well.

So to quote my attorney ex-wife, the first answer to any question is, "it depends..."

180cc compared to 460cc.

It always amazes me that the "shovel hater" crowd almost always play a 460cc driver.  The OEM's have made a few attempts, like the Taylormade Original One Mini, but they always turn into market failures.  Apparently the "extra concentration" or whatever doesn't apply to drivers.

Don't agree with the analogy, but since I'm on record several times over the years as not liking the larger clubheads...

On top of the Original One, I've got a Cobra Deep Face waiting for a turn at some point this season.

About everything is a massive shovel with tons of offset. This is why I am playing T100’s. Don’t need or want less spin. I hit the ball left all too often so don’t need help there either.  Rather hit it short than flyers.

Why wouldn’t you play a smaller club that does the same....ummm because they don’t.  This site is hysterical sometimes.  Everyone wants to play blades and 75x shafts.   I played with a buddy today that bags older Mizuno muscle back looking putty knives.  Still carries a 4 iron.  I shot an 85 he shot 88.  He looks better in the parking lot, my ball looks better in the air.

In the golfers warehouse today and was quite suprized by how big most gi irons looked. I saw zx5, apex among a few other gi irons... honestly even a few players models were thick. The i210 to me is not exactly slim. The blueprint was and yes i know thats a blade. After playing mmc mp 20 and now mp5 blade i am very use to much smaller appearance irons. Im also here to say i think for most somewhat skilled golfers... basically if you can consistently shoot in the 80s.

I think Your ok playing smaller irons. I think we are over told we need more forgivness then we do possibly. I also think todays slim irons are alot more forgiving and advanced then we think. Also the drop offs for misshits from some gi irons to some blades seems to be as small as 5 yards in some cases. Other then stinging hands... which most players and some blades dont even sting anynore... why wouldnt you want to play a smaller club that does the same? Am i just crazy? Please dont just reply with a yes lol.

Yes you are crazy but all the members here are to different degrees, haha.  The irons I play are what I considered oversized blades.  They are quite large compared to traditional mbs, have a thicker sole and are longer from heel to toe.  The COG is also lower as well which helps it get up a little which is ok even being the high launch/spin player I am.  To counteract it, I'm playing the MMT which are mid/low shafts for me.  Playing the CSX LS which brings down my flight and spin even more.  Perfect set up for me.  I love the forgiveness of these they look sexy and I can still work the ball when I need to.  In the end though we all need to hit it dead center of the face no matter what type of iron we choose.  All the tech in the world isn't going to fix a bad swing.  Will it help mask some of the problems from a mediocre swing?  Absolutely.
