My STZ 3 wood should be here this week. Got fitted for it about a month ago and it blew me away. Looks, feel, and performance. Total package.

The ST-Z 3-wood is incredible. I lofted mine to 17* to use it basically as a 4-wood, and it’s my favorite club in the bag right now. Used it off the tee a ton this weekend — it’s just so good, and forgiving too.

I like my 7w so much I'm looking to add a 9w.

I did the same.  So much easier to hit and launch, then a long iron.

I used to dread the long par 3 over the water, but know I look forward to using my 9 wood.

I've shot my lowest scores ever with these 2 clubs added to my bag.

I carry Ping G410 7W (220 yd club for me) and 9W (200 yd club) and my regular group of players always make the ladies jokes and jokes from the olden days about obscure players hitting oddball clubs. Yesterday, I hit my 7W to a 205 yd par 3 over marshland to within 6 ft.

If I am in the rough the F9 7 wood is a beast! Picks it right out and it is long!! Recently I have been nuking this thing. My G 410 4 hybrid has been a real surprise. At first I was intimidated by it being a 4 hybrid, but now I really enjoy this club for low bullets under trees! The 5 wood is my longest wood @180, then the 7 wood @170 followed by the 4 hybrid @160. Lately I have been adding 10 yards to this, and I guess the dryer/warmer weather is to blame!!

Bag is in overhaul mode

After years of playing 4 & 3 hybrids I've finally ordered a new 425 7 wood.

Ordered as soon as possible as in the last few years of looking for a quality used 7 wood they were almost impossible to find.

Bag will be

4 wood

7 wood

4 hybrid

With covid I can't get into a sim, so with them all adjustable the lofts will be TBA.

Be well and FORE!!!

Because I am curious...what makes it better? I am in love with my 3 hybrid and have been for years. High as a kite and is a great 230 carry club. Gave me countless eagle putts in its life...can punch it with a lower flight into the wind no problem. I have hit 7woods in the past but i am very curious why you like it better?

When younger, like you, I could use a 3 hybrid. Now that I'm in my 60s I need more launch. Low spin player to begin with, the extra spin helps as well to hold greens.

I don't think there's one right answer to this. If you can hit a 3h in the air, it's a pretty versatile club. I have both 7w and 3h, and I've gone back and forth. They both carry about the same. The 7w does fly higher and spin more, but at my swing speed and with the courses I play, I don't really hit 7w at the greens very often (250 yd driver, 6000-6500 yd courses).

For me, right now, the 3h wins out because it's easier to hit down on when I need to do that, better out of soft lies, and it's a better tee club. I can hit both draw and fade punch shots under trees -- no way I can do that with a 7w.

The 3h is kind of like a driving iron for me off the tee, with a low, reliable flight that can run on the ground. The 7w from the tee goes way in the air with almost no rollout.

My clubs ...

D - 250 total

3w - 200 carry (TM HL 17 deg, 43-1/4")

3h - 188 carry (19 deg set to 20.5, 1/4" short)

4h - 176 carry (22 deg set to 23.5, 1/4" short)

6i - 164 carry (JPX919 HM 26 deg)

I think it’s a mental thing for a lot of people. They think of 7w and higher as a senior type club. Or, something that’s just not for them.

I have a Cobra Speedzone 7w, but it’s just laying in my truck these days. Head got to where it looked too closed to me. Been enjoying my ZX 3i I replaced it with, tho! I’ll eventually get another 7w to swap with that depending on wind and course, etc.

I’m in my 30’s, and a high speed player. People can’t believe that I have a 7w. I got it to fill a gap, and be mostly carry. I never really tried to hit it out of terrible lies. Especially at longer distances. Nothing good gonna happen for me.

I also just got a STZ 3w. I love the thing. I’ll be putting autoflex in it soon. So, I just bought it, and the ZX 3i, off the rack. AF going in the 3i, too. Depending on what my new distances come out to, might be getting another 7w sooner than later. Just wish STZ came in 7w!!! Come on Mizuno!!!

3w - Mizzuno ST-Z 15.0° - Autoflex SF505X(-1.0”) Pink

3u - Srixon Utility 3i 20°(-1.0°) - UST Recoil 95 (for windy days)

It took some of you guys long enough.

I put my first 7w in my bag in the early 90's. It quickly became my favorite club and always has been my favorite.

I'm playing a TEE C721 7w now. Love it.

Love it. I also have played a 7w off and on. I was fitted with one in late 90’s at this local shop who sold used and knock offs. It was a knock off Warbird and loved it for a decade. It was beat to piss but I could get onto par 5 so easily and then 4 putt.

People would go nuts when I got on in 2 only to 4 putt hahahaha.

Anyways 7w came back in my bag a couple hears ago and depending on the course its in there.

Have a Tour Issue sldr and m2 5hl’s. The SLDR is surprisingly a weapon!

- Something that continues to go long off the tee in the fairway
- Something that is a fairway finder when needed and long
- Something that high, consistent and helps with par 5’s
-  Something to help with long par3’s and short par 4’s

-  Something metal, lots of them and go the gaps I need
- Something metal, 2x of them and helps me 120y and in
- Putters - limited rotation because I cannot afford misses

Golf is what you make of it.  Play grateful and accepting. We are all lucky to have it.

Rather than expecting lets all try and appreciate instead.

If you are a fade player, hybrid all day. But if you draw the ball that hybrid will hook. 7w can hook too but with so much height its like hooking a wedge.

I've played 7 woods off and on over the years, but I find I'm more likely to hit the center of the face with the shorter shaft of a hybrid than with the extra couple of inches of a 7 wood.  I wouldn't hesitate to put one back in the bag if I found the right one, but right now I'm having a love affair with the Ping g410 hybrids.

I have been playing a high launch M2 5 wood 21* (so pretty much a 7 wood) for a few seasons now. It's one of my favorite clubs to get creative with. I can hit it high into greens and it lands soft. I can hack it out of the deep rough and its great for low punch shots under limbs and the occasional bump and run around the greens. It gives you some spice at the top end of your bag.

I've probably changed every club in my bag 10 times in the last 5 years but the one constant has been a 2015 Great Big Bertha 7 wood.  I love that thing.  I hit it so high compared to a hybrid or long iron which for me is needed to hold greens.  Scary thing is there's times when I have a better chance of hitting a green with my 7 wood than I do with my 7 iron lol.

Off a tee or fairway I think it's pretty close hybrid and 7w. The 7w really comes in handy on those questionable junk lies in the first cut or rough, I feel like I can go down and get it without hooking the crap out of it like I would with my hybrid.

I know exactly how you feel. Haven’t had a 7Wood since I was a kid. Never been able to hit a hybrid and who carries a 3 iron anymore. Tried a driving iron, but they make you look silly on a toe strike. Finally got a 7Wood after months of wanting to try one. Wow! Perfect 230ish club to fill the gap between 4iron and 3wood.
