In Australia they report a so called "apparent temperature" which is an adjusted value to the actual air temperature that takes into account direct radiation, wind chill and humidity. I suspect some of those higher mentioned temperature values were apparent temperature, or some variant of it. Humidity slows the net evaporation rate of sweat, increasing the apparent temperature. But actually dry heat is more dangerous because of its almost imperceptible desiccating effect. When you hit the wall in dry heat, you can be in serious trouble - and not have realised it until it hits you.

In the U.S. it's known as the heat index.

A few summers ago I took a golf trip here in the Midwest. Eight rounds of golf in four days. The heat index was over 100F each of the four days. During the 2nd round on the first day I was the only golfer on the course. At the end of the round there was a news crew w/ camera waiting on the 18th teebox. They asked if they could interview me for a piece they were doing for the evening news. 'Must have been a slow news day. They wanted to know why I was crazy enough to be out golfing in the heat and humidity. Lol.

I played a few years back on a 40C day (I guess about 105F) with a guy who was a marathon runner. fitness animal and hyper competitive. We finished the 14th in under 2 hours, which we could because we were the only two on the course, but i just couldn't continue. I had to lay down under a tree! Even after 15 minutes and a litre of water it was still struggle to get back to the clubhouse.

Thinking about later I realised that that was his strategy - to try to beat me at golf by running me into the ground physically. It kind of backfired because he overdid it, and hence didn't get the satisfaction of beating me over 18 holes of golf. Not a nice guy, basically!!

next time there's a "heat warning" here in ontario, that's the time to play golf and go challenge someone to a half marathon (can't do full marathon myself, where'd i get my hydration? LOL).

in all seriousness, you get used to it, for some who's familiar with SG - having lived there decade(s)- hash house harriers run at macritchie reservoir - come hell or high water -- 35C with 90% humidity be damned! 😛  (it's actually harder to do it in BKK with the pollution -- SG is perfectly fine -- so I’m so curious how the conditions will be for the LPGA players tonight ☺︎

Of course, you're right.

"The highest recorded temperature is 37.0 °C (98.6 °F) on 17 April 1983. The lowest recorded temperature was 19.0 °C (66.2 °F) in 14 February 1989 at Paya Lebar."

Geography of Singapore

I'm curious that @agolf1 has stayed stone silent, who lives there.

I always thought reporting yesterday's weather was a low value add activity.  If that's what I'm needed for, things are going downhill!

It's usually low 90s F with high humidity but not much hotter (actual temperature).  As others have said, you get used to it.  I play in pants, a UV undershirt, golf shirt, and hat, and usually drink about 2L of water per nine holes.  I hope the caddie that got tired/sick is OK, you do need to be careful in the heat/sun here.

By the way, what do you think of Patty Tavatanakit or Atthaya Thitikul?

The Midwest can get quite humid, but obviously not as bad as the deep south. I walked and carried all summer last year, and the heat index was often pushing or exceeding 100F. It wasn't uncommon for me to pop up my umbrella to block some of the sun. The biggest hassle was carrying 64 ounces of water, since the Covid rules prohibited courses from having water jugs on the course.

I played in an Exec Course 36 hole Tourney over the last 2 days with heat index here (The Villages FL) exceeding 103 Deg F. Playing in the Men's Div was my 85 year old dad. Second day not as bad as the first as there were more clouds but still brutal.
