So it’s a shallow face, a touch longer front to back than my CBX119. This is my 4 wood / 7 wood setup. Didn’t think I’d be doing a 7 wood photo shoot after work today.

V-steel!!!!

PGA Tour pros are figuring out that it's easier to stop a second shot on/around a par 5 green with a 7 wood than with a 3 iron, which is something we less skilled golfers have known for a long time.

I've had a V-Steel 7 wood in my bag for a decade, with a steel shaft in it that makes it slightly longer than my 4 iron. It's a great club, but the .350 hosel has made it almost impossible for me to source an X-flex steel shaft to put in it to bring it in line with the rest of my bag (irons have KBS Tour x-flex). Any ideas out there?

If you can find an x-flex .335 steel wood shaft, it's no problem to shim it to fit the .350 hosel of the V-steel. That's how I shafted my V-steels of yesteryear.

7 woods are all the rage this year.. I find golf trends very interesting. Two years ago it was the utility iron. Now it is 7 woods..

I always wonder what drives these trends. I do remember thinking about getting a 7 wood last year or the year before. I got one this year and it seems everyone else is too. lol.

Maltby offers the Hyway hybrid utility at Golfworks. 21° & 23°. The head size looks like the difference between a hybrid and a fairway wood. Or a traditionally sized 7 wood from the 80s. It has rails on the bottom so it may become my trouble club. Nice tallish face height.

Can't wait to get it but I got a message saying that they are having shipping delays.

Taylormade M4 had a "6 wood" (I call it that) at 21 degrees. They say 5HL. I found it on EBAY as a tour issue club. They also had a 24 degree 7w. I hit the 21 with an x100 shaft and it's a monster on the course. 157 and 146 cc's respectively. Really deep face for that size clubhead.

Yep shipping delays are the norm now-- As of last week there were at least 20 ships still anchored off of LA waiting for dock space to be unloaded. I have friends in the business experiencing shipping delays on custom components

I think all the rage of the 7 wood has to do with the fact that fairways are so hot off the face these days.  Currently have a g425 5 wood that is very close in distance to my 3 wood.  It now has me thinking about a 7 wood to fit within my gaps.

I am seriously considering the persimmon 7 wood from Louisville Golf when it comes back in stock: https://louisvillegolf.com/collections/modern-persimmon/products/niblick-series-7-fairway-wood

I have a beautiful Powerbilt 5w that is very much like a modern 3w. I hadn't thought of it like that, but now you mention it, it could serve really well in my modern bag as a rescue and 220 yard club. My modern-ish 7w is slightly longer on average, though.

Sorry if it has already been mentioned but Honma's TR21 7w comes in at 137cc I believe.

Just did a search on this one...looks pretty good.  Probably smallest so far that I have seen.  I don't think the Tsi2 is that small...I tried a ts2 7 and it was not as small as I had hoped.  Cobra is about 147.   I really wish all OEMs would list the CC sizes -- Srixon, Titleist, Tour Edge and others do not.

TSi2 7w is 132cc. Hit one the other day at the local shop, looked and felt great.

Wondering if something like this Retro Raylor

(or its modern day equivalent , e.g. the Cobra F6 Baffler??)

= is what you're looking for (w.r.t. a compact fairway wood)

I never had any confidence hitting a hybrid and therefore had no consistently.  I  resurrected an old Cobra Comp 7 wood and while the shaft is a bit longer, I have a lot of confidence in it.  Our 6th hole is a dog leg right, and if you're not far enough to the left, you can either punch out or try to hit a shot (out of the rough) over some tall trees.  Unfortunately, I have found myself in that position three times already this season and that old Cobra Comp makes the ball jump out of the rough, and sail right over top of them.  I never ever would have tried that more than once with a hybrid!  I'm gonna ride that pony till it drops!
