How many of you WRXer's have a backup bag?

Like some others, I keep a bag of things that won't sell, but then I have something for the one or two times a year I talk my wife into playing with me.  A 2007 Burner driver, old Bob Toski Black Wolf irons, old Snake Eyes wedges, Cleveland Launcher fairway woods.

Same boat, was trying a bunch of drivers and fairways making a couple bucks here and there. It's pretty fun finding really good deals and trading your way up!

I bought a bunch of stuff at the end of the year. I paid $5 each for my Nike wedges. Didn't know they would go for $25 in the spring.

Golf is the same as boats and Corvettes. Buy in the winter, sell in the spring. 🤣

I never buy anything to be a "backup", but i do have a full "backup" bag of previous clubs i used to play. I used it mostly for when i travel as i don't want my main set to be subjected to the terrors of airport baggage handlers

My backup bag would be right now

Epic Subzero driver and 3 wood

Apex Hybrid

G410 irons

Eye2 grind wedges

Agreed. My backup bag(s)/spares are made up of equipment that never made the gamer bag or previous gamer clubs not currently in play (but could be at any time).

Before the, you need to clean up a bit starts, yes it is messy.  Yes it looks crazy, but also yes, I know where everything is.

I have another 3 or four sets of iron shafts somewhere as well and a few other extras here and there.

Idk how this has happened, but I have way too many full sets of clubs. And they are all pretty new and nice. I think I have 4 bags each with a full set that I could grab and go play a round with right now. Yet I never use them. I always use my current set and bag and travel with it everywhere so really what’s the point? Maybe I should liquidate, but I also like looking at them all set up neat.

Most of these are the classic 1950s MacGregor woods.  Most have been restored.  I have the following woods, either set or individual piece.  A set (1-4) 1950-1952 693s.  A set of 1950-1951 M43Ts (1-3), a second production M43T driver and a custom order M43T with Tommy Armour stamped in the crown.  A full set of 1955 Tommy Armour 945Ws (1-4). The driver was finished in a special finish Dave Wood developed called EDO, inspired by the Japanese art period. I have a former gamer 1954-1955 945W driver.  A full set of 1953 945Ws (1-4) restored by the late Barry Willett.  A set (1-3) 1954 M85W, driver restored but the 2-3 have not been.  Will be this summer.  I have a second 1955 M85W drive that Dave Wood says is a clone of Ben Crenshaw's old M85W he won the 1984 Masters with.  Dave said mine is better.  👍🏼  A 1953 MacGregor M09 LFF driver.  A set (1-4) of MacGregor Toney Penna TP Special woods.  A tour made Wood Brothers Texan driver made for Gene Sauers.  A former gamer, Cleveland Classics DG43 driver modified with new old stock paper fiber red/white/red insert, and a 1953 MacGregor Tommy Armour 945W 3 wood that I gamed from 1991 - 2001. A Cleveland RC945 driver, Cleveland RC693 driver and a second Cleveland DG43 driver.  I have three Joe Powell tour made drivers.  And finally I have a custom driver made by my original club craftsman in Delaware in 1992.  I just picked up a 1952 pre-production MacGregor M85TW driver that will also be going to Dave Wood this summer for restoration.

I guess that pretty much sums it up for my small collection.  Believe me, there are a lot of other collectors who have much larger collections. While my numbers may pale in comparison I hope the quality of my woods are unsurpassed.

I have three sets in total: set of mizzy with Ping g400 driver, 3wood, and 2 hybrids (I usually use 3H only). Another set based on my old Ping Karstens (my first set), vokeys, plus Callaway's X2Hot full wood set (driver, 4W, 3H). Then never used Honma set with 5W and 4H. I also have 4 putters that I rotate depending on my moods. Only thing that I lack is one wedge set for the last set. I have two other drivers (ping g30 lst and flash sub zero) which I'm in the process of selling.

For the first time in ages no full backup bag. I decided to go new irons and stick with them. Picked up new (old stock) Srixon Z565 4-A with Miyazaki 8s 6554 and that's it. I'm playing them this year. Filling out the bag is a Srixon Z785 9.5, Cobra King F7 3-4 and Amp Cel 2 hybrid, Cleveland RX3 54 and 58, Odyssey Stroke Lab 3. MBIS.

In the extra bag is a Yonex Ezone 420, Srixon Z F85 3+, Wilson m3 23 hybrid, Titleist 816 4 hybrid and Cleveland Classic II putter. I mean c'mon, gotta have some options.

I don't count my clubs of yesteryear, lol. That's a whole different story.

My father winters in Palm Springs so I keep a set out there so I don't have to travel with clubs.

Any time I buy a new club the one it's replacing usually heads out there.

Being in Minnesota, but golfing more than most of my playing partners in the winter, I like to use the excuse that I was better with my backup set, when they give me grief for playing poorly despite playing more than any of them over the winter!

Let's just say I'm better at buying than selling.  I pretty much only buy older heads and shafts to experiment with.  But it does tend to build up over time.

My garage looks like the used section at Roger Dunn:classic_blush:

I used to be like many others here. When I was playing four or five times a week, and more importantly, had ample room in the office and garage to store everything. Sadly, I don’t have the room to keep stuff, and as little as I play, no reason to keep adding stuff to experiment with😥.
I think just before we moved I had a full ten extra complete sets, plus the various odds and ends. I think now all I have is two extra sets of irons, four drivers, three fairway woods, four hybrids, three wedge sets, and five putters. And three bags.

I guess I still have more than I thought. Most of the stuff is older though, and really doesn’t have much, if any value.

I have a backup bag that I use in the winter here in Michigan and when I travel on business (don't care too much if they get beat up).

Taylormade R7 Limited Driver

NO 3 wood

Titleist H16 Hybrid - 19 deg

Ping S59 - 3-PW

Cleveland RTX2 Wedges (52/56)

Whatever old putter is not in rotation (usually an old Ping BECU)
