I think we play golf on very different scales of distance.   For me 100 yards is right in between my 52 degree gap wedge (mid-90's) and my 46-degree pitching wedge (around 110). By the time

I use all my wedges plus a 9i. Since I try to use the Pelz method I have a lot of different shots that I can skull and shank

For 100 yds and in, I will normally use any one of four clubs: 9i (43), PW (47), GW (52), or SW (58).   I don't hit my 58* with a full swing, and only rarely take full swings with the 52*.

I use all of my wedges depending on the situation.

54 exclusively until I'm greenside. Full normally carries a bit under 110 (call it 105-108).

Tried to hit a full 58 today from 93 yards and knocked the teeth out of it 20 yards deep. I'll be sticking to the 54.

Greenside its mostly 58, with a fair amount of 54 and an occasional 50.

50 for 80-110; 56 for 80 and under - depending on elevation and wind these will vary along with the 46 thrown in.

Hmm. If I were you'd I'd work on the fat wedge. It's a Pacific Northwest staple when it's wet AF during the winter. Especially useful when the greens are soft and you need to take spin off the ball.

I like hitting a low 48 degree PW old school. Play on a good links course with wind up all the time. I find it removes the wind effect by keeping it low. Keeps you from over swinging too. Great question

There's almost any shot you can name in golf and I'd say, "I wish I had that shot". Lately, I have pretty much nothing. 🥵

But I was watching a good player hit a couple of those "flighted pitching wedges" the other day and I was so jealous. Really doesn't look like a particularly hard shot to execute but it takes the wind out of play, it has a good predictable grab and slight release on the green. Absolutely great shot for a back hole location.

So I REALLY wish I had that shot...

I have two full shot clubs (56*, and 60*) that go 92 and 60 yards respectively. I also play my 52* as a half shot for 71 yards and the 48* as a half shot for 82 yards. Below 60 yards the lie and surrounding green environments will dictate the shot. It can be anything from a putter, 8i, 52*, 56* or 60* depending on the flight and check / roll required.
