Did Ping make a "U" wedge in Eye2 or Eye2+. Can't find on anywhere, beginning to think they were not made.

I could be wrong but I don't remember one.  They might have offered 2 different lofts in the "S" late in the run, not sure.  But I don't remember seeing a gap wedge.

The eye 2 wedges were

W 50.5

S 57.5

L 61

The eye 2+ wedges were

W  48.5

S 53

L 58

There were no eye 2 gap wedges. Just mix and match eye 2’s and pluses to taste.

The first Ping iron with a gap wedge was the i3 because lofts were getting even stronger.

I have 1-PW in black dot eye2, and SW and LW in Eye2+. Need a gap between the SW and PW, but if I read the charts correctly, the SW is 53degree (for me 100 yards) and the PW is 50.5 degrees (125 yards).

Have the lofts confirmed. A 25 yard gap seems a little excessive for a 2.5 degree loft differential. But Pings were different animals than the norm so anything is possible.

No U wedge was offered back then with the eye ‘s.  If you want a matching iron in between it should be cheap to buy an odd eye2+ and have it bent.  Perfect timing to check snd reset all of your lofts and lies.  If you’ve never checked I’m sure they are all out if whack.  Best investment that many golfers don’t do,

I do not think they did because the lofts were more traditional with traditional gaps

I recently found this in my bag of excess wedges. It is a berylium copper Eye 2 + W2. 50.5 degrees.

I have only ever seen one in 30 years of collecting.

Ping confirmed that they were not so readily available.

According to ping...loft is 50.5  which makes it an ideal gap wedge.

THAT is a find..... I have never seen that, I wonder if it was made up for a Tour player.

The serial number is also stamped around the hosel instead of parallel to the hosel. It is also a very low number.

I spoke to the Ping club  specialist and he asked me what the serial number was. After a long pause, he mentioned that this was a one off club based on the serial number and was specifically made for a golf professional.  He wouldn't tell me who it was made for.

I have a Eye2 1 iron that is stamped the same way you described. I found it a while back on the scrap pile at work. It has a Ping shaft blue label marked Medium--- Must have been special order--- It was in good shape when I found it and had the Previous generation Tour Wrap on it in darn near new shape

Serial numbers on clubs around the hosel are European market clubs from what I understand .  I have aneye 2 sw with a serial like that which was part of a pga tour player (and major winner ) collection.

On my first visit to Ping, We were in the walking up the stairs to a meeting room, and the door was open to a room on our left. It was literally FILLED with sets of Becu Eye 2 irons from europe. Must have been 100's of sets. This was during the groove controversy and the Ping employee told us they were all exchanges from customers in Europe. I have always wondered what happened to those clubs.
