Soft stepping proj x twice

Had a chance to hit a project x 6.5 soft stepped twice. Felt really good. I'm curious if I were to do this through the set when I get up in the higher clubs would the 7 iron shaft go into the 9 iron and the 8 iron shaft go into the pitching wedge? I wasn't sure if the 9 iron and pitching wedge had the same shaft. Thank you.

That's one way and a good choice if you use a 1/2" length gap between the 9i and PW.

If the length gap is only 1/4" then you could still do it that way or you could use the 7i shaft in both the 9i and PW.  It's purely personal preference. There is no one right or wrong way to do it.

There is a wedge shaft in addition to the 9i shaft in PX.  You wont need it for a double soft-stepped set.

I would use the 7i shaft for both the 9i and the PW, because a PW is usually only built to a 1/4" shorter than a 9i.  If you use the 8i shaft for the Pw, it would end up being slightly stiffer in proportion to the 9i,....unless you built it about a a 1/2" shorter than the 9, with at least a 7g increase in head weight

7 heavier than the PW, but at 1/4 shorter you'd want 3.5 heavier?

To OP, I answered one word because PX has a dedicated wedge shaft, unlike DG. Unless you can find out when was in the set set you tested, then it's just opinion. Whatever feels right to you. Length and head weight are determining factors, as well as user preference. Some want a PW that feels a little softer fo use around the green, some use it as a 10-iron. Another option is using a 7 iron with tiger stepping. That's what I'm using in my x100 ssx2

Id want my PW 7 grams heavier if it's a half inch shorter, right, but if it's only 1/4" shorter would I want it only 3.5 grams heavier? @Cwebb

Yes, that would be the general progression for a 'standard' swing-weight matched set.

If you prefer a very slight progressive swing-weight through the set, you could use 8g per 1/2" and 4g per 1/4"
