XXIO- does the performance approximate their marketing hype?

Does XXIO have marketing hype? I don't think I've ever seen an ad from them electronic or print. The claims they make on their website is not different than those made by every other golf company.

I guess when I say hype, I mean their obvious targeting of those past our prime from an age, swingspeed, distance perspective?

I guess you should try to quantify how far "past your prime" you actually are 🙂 swingspeed/launch conditions etc. I often played with a women well into her 70s who was still a very serious player considering her physical abilities (7 hcp on a tough course) and she was very content with her XXIO clubs and felt they delivered what they promised. Then again I don't think this is comparable to your demographic and pretty much every brand is offering lower shaft weights, head weights or more hybrids to replace irons. There's plenty of help to be found in clubs, just got to know how much of it you need and want.

I can just picture XXIO doing ad campaigns like PXG since I've never seen a XXIO ad.

"Your driver feeling like a sledge hammer, well you need that XXIO baby"

"Can't get the ball off the ground, well we got you covered with our super light and easy launching drivers"

"Want an exotic brand to impress all your friends? XXIO baby, we bet they can't even pronounce our name and neither can you."

Never seen a XXIO ad??  What are you guys watching?  They’re on all the time with the Ernie Els ones and then ones with the Dos Equis “most interesting man in the world” look alike getting off his personal old style plane playing with the younger guy and the hot blonde in the short dress!  Their marketing is gimmicky too just like PXG and others!

hit them and see.I play with several 5- 6 hncps - all about 55-65  who hit them great.I had  3 wood which was very good. They are very light with high sw. They even use their own lightweight grips to keep the weight down.I have seen 10 -15 players with them and few leave their ranks. Most get extra distance from all their clubs; gain try them !

I love the principle,

tried a lot of Japan stuff, lightweight,

but it doesn’t work for me personally,

but the idea is good, higher launch, lighter, I am at that age 55 where it’s getting harder to finish off a round,

but the trade off in weight just does not seem worth it, but it’s all personal.

But interested to hear how others got on with the brand

I'm a 88-90 mph driver swinger on avg., lowball hitter w/ irons, mid trajectory w/ hybrids/woods.  I'm one of those guys who hits his longer clubs better than his short clubs, driver better than hybrids, hybrids better than irons.  As an example of my trajectory issues w/ irons....had a 9 iron 3rd into the par 5 18th yesterday from 125 a bit uphill, and hit it pretty solid right at the flag, but flattish. Hit just under the hole, and rolled out to 10 yards above and off the surface. Easy up and down, but no birdie opportunity on a shot/club/yardage you expect to have one.

I will also say that a lighter, more active, higher torque (4.6 vs.3.0) driver shaft was an excellent choice for me when re-shafting my driver.  Accra FX 150 has been a dream vs. the Project X Red HZRDUS I was gaming.  Picked up 20 yds easily.  So, lighter/higher is worth investigating for me.

I play frequently at a local Del Webb course and they are extremely popular with the guys who live there.  Most don’t seem to talk about distance, very much, but they love the ability to hit the ball high, again.

That being said, 57 is nowhere near old enough to worry about old guy clubs.

- Sincerely, a fellow 56 year old.

The XXIO product line does exactly as advertised. The driver will give you a slight increase in swing speed, they are easy to launch and pretty forgiving. The irons basically the same although I got rid of mine as I did not care for the look, really can not say that was a smart move on my part.

But if you go XXIO you will not be disappointed.

  • 3 weeks later...

My buddy has a very slow swing speed...can barely hit his PW 120, but hits his xxio driver a ton. He let me hit it on the range and my jaw dropped. I was professionally fitted for my driver, but this thing was easily 15-20 yards  longer than my current setup.

My new xxio driver is arriving in 5 weeks LOL
