Love my 0311 Gen3’s but it looks like Ping hit a home run with these. I’ve already got my order in, if they perform as good as they look they will be in my bag!

How did you order already?

They’re beautiful. Will be eager to hear what Ping says about delivery time frame. Would love to compare them to Mizuno 225, TM P770/790 and Callaway Rogue ST Pro. If the 525s sound great, they’re going to be hugely popular.

When I had the i500’s they were longe than anything I had ever hit, including the P790’s. It was effortless distance. The feel wasn’t good, but not terrible. The sound was pretty emphatic. I actually think the original i500’s had a cleaner look, but these look good too. I’m really interested to see if these perform just as good as the original i500 with improvements to the feel and sound.

Did he give you a guess about when they’d be in your hands? How about in the stores?

He didn’t say and honestly I didn’t ask since I’m in the Midwest and won’t be playing for a couple months. Hopefully I have them by March.

Bingo, thats exactly what I'm hoping for, little better sound/feel and then everything else the same honestly.

Do you know what the stock shaft offering is gonna be?  I heard rumor of project x IO

I don’t know, I ordered them with my shaft which is graphite. I didn’t ask to many questions, been a Ping guy for 30 years and only a year ago put another brand of irons in the bag. Once I saw the pics and read the tec I was in to try them. They will have to go to beat my Gen3’s because I love them, but looking forward to trying them head to head.

Surprised this thread has gone silent. The i525 look great. It's really all about the feel. If they have made that work, look out.

I like how the std. spec is pretty much the same as my nine year old X-Hot Pro's.

I believe it has partly gone silent because many feel there is no way Ping will get these into the hands of very many players (before the end of the summer golf season).  It isn’t their fault, but Ping has hurt themselves a bit more than the other companies.  Ping loyalists will always give them the benefit of the doubt, but others will be cautious.  That is just my perspective from someone who has wanted to try PING products but just doesn’t trust they can deliver at this point (other than the I59’s).

If PING is able to get these out over the spring, I will definitely order them.  They look great (assuming they have fixed the sound/feel issue).

These look great and promising. I used to be a Ping loyalist until the i500s (fitted and purchased about the same time they were released). They looked amazing in the bag, but I just couldn’t get over the sound and feel. Once I took a demo Apex Pro 19 7-iron to the course to compare, feel and sound was night and day and ended up just hating the i500s. I took them back and exchanged them for the Apexes. Since then I’ve been through a variety of brands with Mizuno 225s on the way.

I won’t be purchasing, but really pulling for Ping and the i525. Hopefully they’ve corrected the sound and feel issues from the previous i500. Always loved Pings approach and philosophies on how they won’t come out with a new product line unless it’s significantly better than the previous version. More importantly, hope their supply issues are fixed by the time these release.

*other than the i59s*

That’s the key thing, their newest products are not having issues. The older products, the i210, is what people seem to have issues with. That makes sense if they’re experiencing production problems and at the same time shifting to a new product. Why focus on building older stuff that you’re phasing out when you have new stuff coming down the pipeline?

That’s not to say that they won’t potentially have problems going forward, but every manufacturer whether golf or any other industry, is having issues to some degree right now.

edit: also, a lot of issues are stemming from component manufacturers

I have a set of pure forged irons that I like to play because there’s something addictive about the feel, but after sampling the Mizuno 921 Hot Metal Pro (not mine) for winter golf, I’m in the market for a set of power sticks to use when I feel like it or the course is long or playing long. I found the HMP to be very good, posted some low numbers with them, though perhaps a little larger profile than I am used to. But in some tough cold conditions, It showed some advantages.

Scheduled a fitting for mid-February. I am eyeing the Mizuno 225 (and 223, which I’m hearing is nearly as long), the Callaway Rogue ST Pro, the Titleist T200 and I even like the TaylorMade Stealth. That Stealth wins the award for ‘Most Improved’ over the previous SIM2 options.

That said, these i525s might be worth waiting for. If it is an upgrade in sound and feel over the i500, that’s huge because the look and profile are very appealing. One thing you never have to worry about with Ping is performance. Hopefully they’ll be available to hit with the others, though for Ping I know another guy, a Ping master fitter, who does a great job. If they really are on target for March shipping, and we can count on that holding up, these are contenders.

I hope the new i525’s are terrific. Ping has had time to fix the stuff that bothered people about the i500’s, and a good track record with “updates”.

After 40 years of NOTHING but Ping irons, I have a set of Titleist T200’s that are FAR superior to my i500’s.  It would please me greatly to have to make a hard choice because Ping had made the 525 play as good as they look.

I figure I will wait to see some reviews once embargo is lifted. If sound & feel are improved I will give them a try. It's subjective but it seems majority of folks didn't like the i500 for that reason in particular.

i59 does not appear to be generating much in the way of either tour or retail interest.  Even among the Wrx community, there appears to be little more than modest demand for them.

Ping does not seem to be done screwing the supply chain pooch, and after being burned by them on my last order, I will not be enthused to have it happen again soon.  And this is coming from a former Ping homer.

Not sure I'd fully agree...more folks adding them to bags this season, still early yet.

I love them...best irons since my S55.  Reading reports of 7-14 day turns on i59.   Got a buddy on week 15 for t300....shaft backorder.  His fitter finally ate the cost of an upgrade to make it right and get a 2 week eta...

Might have hit ping harder...but certainly didn't leave anyone else unscathed.

Now to avoid the temptation of a whole set of i525...as I still have my i500 too!

The blend of these two will be $$!!!! But can't just buy a couple, need the whole set, right amirite?
