Arcadia Bluffs - Early Spring Review

I was lucky enough to play Arcadia Bluffs in late April and early May and the course is in AMAZING shape right now.  I have never seen the greens this fast on this course and they were so good on both rounds that it just blew my mind because of how early we are in the year.

 

Arcadia has great rates for the next month so if you are on the fence or have never played it then its time.  Both days we played it the temps were in the 40s with high wind but Arcadia had a solution to that problem.  Each cart has two propane heater lamps in them along with plastic covers on the sides of carts so when you get into them they are so stinking hot you will be taking off layers by the 2nd hole.  I was amazed at how warm the carts were and it made it so easy to play in cold conditions.

 

The course is really tough so make sure you play the right set of tees....we actually played the senior tees and had a blast doing so.  The whites would of been way to much for us so school wisely.  If one can afford a forcaddie it would be worth it as a number of greens have places where you can "funnel" the ball towards the hole.  The course can beat you up so you just have to enjoy the challenge it presents to you.

 

Bottom line is go and play it....if you can squeeze in a round on the South then I would.....but make not mistake about it....Arcadia Bluffs is by far the best public course in Michigan....I used to pick Forest Dunes and Bay Harbor over Arcadia but I can no longer...only one is at the top and its Arcadia Bluffs

The views at Arcadia are simply amazing....I should of taken pics on holes 10-13....I got caught up in the moment 🙂

Do you think conditions are due to early warm weather or golf course maintenance (both?).

Yes, I saw multiple maintenance crews on the course both days making sure the course was in top knotch condition.  The best about the crews is they were trained very well to not get in the way and everytime they saw us on the tee box they would stop working and get out of the way without wasting any time.  I was very impressed with this and you can tell the SUPER has the crews trained well.....the entire staff is second to none and Arcadia should be very proud of their staff.

 

We have also had great weather in the Midwest early this spring so that sure has helped as well....I will probably go up again to Arcadia again before the deal ends because the course is just playing that well right now.

Bg5,thanks for the review. Playing 3 rds towards end of the month. Do they ever move the pin position on #10? Played several times and its always the same as in your picture.

I was able to play Whistling Straits a few days after my Arcadia Bluffs round.....Arcadia is by far in a lot better shape right now than Whistling Straits and the greens at Arcadia are 10 times faster....kudos to the Arcadia Staff.

Was the spring special for WS available this year?

Yes the $220 rate goes until May 7th and then slowly goes up...As of now you dont have to take a caddie either which is a big savings
