Thanks @18majors... at first glance, I thought that was Ariya Jutanugarn in the photo (right-most side)... won’t spoil the guessing game for the others...

As you've said, the best is to appreciate and enjoy it when they play well!

 

Every Canadian knew what was going to happen to Yani, she touched a trophy before winning it, in Canada that's a no-no and brings on bad joo-joo (curse), even Brooke refused to touch the CP trophy at media events before she won it. lol

Too funny ... I remember thinking that at the time too. 

 

As an aside, Chantel McCabe, was at Torrey Pines for a preview of the USGA US Open and had her photo taken with the trophy.  She was wearing white gloves to hold the trophy, not unlike the Hockey Hall of Fame personnel who handle the Stanley Cup.   She had a question or two enquiring as to why she was wearing the gloves and Chantel, being the hockey fan that she is, responded that she was superstitious and did not wish to directly touch the trophy!   She truly repped her hockey roots!

Lots of top ranked players skipping this week, including Lexi, Jessica, Nelly, Jin Young, Sei Young, Brooke, and Inbee.

 

This is a great opportunity for the lower ranked players to shine. We've been talking about limited playing opportunities, so it's time to step up.

Muni He, Yui Kawamoto and Yealimi Noh are starving for CME points, but they aren't picking up any unless they win.

 

It's a long trip for a single tournament, but like Xiyu Lin last week, they can dream about catching lightning in a bottle and become a Rolex First Time Winner.

Exactly, you'll get 3-5 type of events a year, so you better take advantage, when you get the chance.  The greatest thing for these players is usually in these type of fields is usually the price of winning (total score) is much cheaper, not having the big names running up the score.

Muni He may have a tough time this season, but she isn't alone.  Michelle Wie West failed to make a cut in three tournaments, and her average score is 75.17.

 

Muni has made one cut in five tries, and her average score is 74.50.
