@Stooch: Your statement got me interested enough to google it.

These Driving Distance stats = skewed by Ariya's (#69) preference for a 3-wood... but sharing here for any folks who're interested.

Did not realize that A Lim Kim was a BOMBER...

💪

It's also nice to see lot of the Thai Players have Korean company sponsorship..

Oh yes she is... Eg A Lim Kim.

He was rightfully noted by @18majorsas Bianca of KLPGA  in last year's USOpen when I asked about her in the early rounds... Let's see who suprises this yr...

I'm actually surprised there's not a lot of Thai Consumer Staples/Discretionary sponsorship yet on the Thai players (other than Singha/Thai Airways).

The other Thai companies (eg PTT, etc) are not as global as Korean ones so that I can understand  (eg CJ Foods/Logistics, Mediheal, Kia, Hyundai/Genesis, Etc)

Did they ever say exactly what happened to Lydia's teeshot on the 5th? She had to retee, and would up with a double. Lost ball in the trees? I didn't see an internal OB on the hole.

@coops: Next time you're at Phothalai... you should check out "CNX Golf"
i.e. Lots of golf toys for GolfWRX'ers! (and some v.limited JDM gear)

https://www.facebook.com/cnxgolf.page/

https://www.instagram.com/cnxgolf/?hl=en

See attached 3x3 grid (from CNX's Facebook this week)...
i.e. how many of the LPGA Thai pros pictured = can you recognise?

CNXgolf_3x3_grid_LPGA-players.jpg

Are you in Thailand?  I've been quite a few times and played some of the courses (Thai, Panya, Windsor, Royal Gems - Both, Siam, Cascata, President, Army Course).  I didn't know about Phothalai.  From the pictures I pulled up on Google Maps, It looks like Top Golf in the States.  May have to check it out the next time I'm in Thailand (who knows when that will be).

I was wondering the same.

She's been at times quite wild off the tee...gotta believe it's attributed for her search for more distance.

In her younger days...it was rare that she'd hit really wild tee shots off the planet.

I'm surprised you haven't complained about the leaf blower? noise in the background again...lol.....though it does seems more faint.

No, it's Kate Burton.

I normally FF my recordings to watch and didn't pay as much attention to who was talking.

I'm surprised Alison is absent from this Asia swing.

I'm also surprised they are using Su Ann again.

I would have thought they'd use Virada N this week....or maybe she's doing some other media work this week.

Could the announcers for this Asia swing be working virtually?

Unless I'm wrong again (my memory is lousy)....we haven't see any commentators on site on this Asia swing.

Remember how they use to use Mike Ritz, who likely was in FLA, to reintroduce the TV feed after a commercial break for the Asia swing.

I thought it was unnecessary.

I doubt it would ever happen and considering S. Korea pays a lot for the LPGA coverage feed.....I'd like to see Grace Park replace Stupples, Paige or Judy (when she retires).

IMO...Stupples talks too much and Paige giggles too much.

Yeah, she's been wild alright. I'm afraid it's going to catch up to her soon. Length is good, but long and wild not so much.

Lol. Yeah, the ambient noise is irritating to say the least.

They're definitely remote. You can tell by the lag in the post round interviews. They ask a question, and it takes a few seconds for the players to react.

The tour really needs to do something about the pace of play. Seriously. 2:17 for a threesome to play nine holes? Once again looking at a 5 hour round. For a threesome.

Nanna took over a minute and a half to hit her putt on the 10th. Why? Why does it take a minute and a half to hit a 15 foot putt? Answer: because the tour allows it.

Someone mentioned Allison Whitaker.  She would be such an upgrade.  But I fear her talents would be wasted on this event.  I'm not sold on her as an analyst, but I think she does a credible job as host.

Kate and Alison covered the Asian swing for years.

I've heard some beeping too -- but this time it didn't sound like it's from a golf cart or lorry... more like a cellphone LOL... maybe virtual broadcasting and it came from the commentators' cellphones!

@hebsan Am not in Thailand... but CNX is well-known amongst gear enthusiasts in Asia!
fyi , Thailand had introduced a 'golf quarantine' program to boost its ailing tourism sector during the pandemic. (Albeit temporarily suspended w.e.f. 1May)

I'm specially for fast play (heck time them all!) when our coverage starts at 1100pm or later here! 😛   In all seriousness, this is irritating as well -- Ciganda, etc -- all violators, all the time...

Some are driving the par 4 15th hole, right onto the green.  Others only a yard short.  Listed at 320, why do i doubt that?  Pattaya is not the desert.

On the Siam Country Club website the Old course is rated 6500+ yards.

I watched it recorded this morning. IIRC it was playing at 260 in round 2.

Ariya and another player or two were hitting three wood.

No they didn't say. But what a horrible shot! I think Lydia's misses are worse than most others'. However, the fairways she hits, she hits convincingly. It's a good sign - shows she can forget those bad shots quickly. Back in 2016 when these problems started for her, I saw her pull/snap hook a drive into a tree 60 m from the tee block! She didn't get over that so quickly.

2nd shots on the 18th. Koerstz-Madsen took 2 minutes. Patty, 50 s, Atthaya, 15 s - in that order. To be fair though, Atthaya had more time to think about hers while waiting for the other two.

Koerstz-Madsen was called out by the commentators on the 17th tee too, for being “overly-deliberate” ie slow & making her flight mates wait long time!
