Towhee Club, South of Nashville in Spring Hill TN

After some debate, I decided to sign my son up for a tournament here the last weekend of October. Reading through this topic, I wasn't sure I was going to. I'm sure the course isn't worth the 3+hr drive from Knoxville but I think it will be a fun weekend with him. We found an 18 holes vlog on YouTube and he seemed to like the course. Anyone is welcome to come watch him play. I think it's the 29th and 30th.

Oh cool.  I may be able to come on Sunday. My sisters wedding is Saturday but I may be able to free up some time on sunday.  Keep me posted.

Have my son signed up to play as well.  He has had a few high school matches there and everyone has noted that the greens have been fast and tough.  From some of the better high school players in the state - there were numerous 3 putts.

Thanks for the heads up. Putting is one of his strengths. Look for me there. My son will be one of the few leftys

Well I have a day off tomorrow and I picked Towhee to play so I guess I must like it more than I think. Now that it has cooled off I am looking forward to playing out there again and ready to exorcise some demons on the back 9 (hopefully). I'll be sure to provide an update on conditions.

Conditions are excellent. Greens are very true, quite fast and quite firm. Fixed maybe 3 ballmarks all day and I landed on at least 15 greens. Wind was up considerably which, along with firm greens, made this course quite challenging on the day.

 

All that said, and I am likely in the minority, the greens are too fast for my liking. Many greens have trouble short and long and while I am probably a mid spin player, downwind it was very difficult to stop the ball remotely close to where you landed it. For many it will be perfect, firm and fast, but just too quick for me.

I played Henry Horton yesterday and they may have the slickest greens in the area.  Wow! 
 

as you mentioned, yesterday was quite challenging with the winds (presumably from the hurricane) and with greens so fast it was brutal.   I played well and felt like I played great considering.

That’s funny because the starter said the only greens he had played that were faster than Towhee’s this summer was HH. So if you survived those towhee should be fine. For me I play harpeth hills and mccabe which aren’t slow but definitely much slower than Towhee.

Play there about once a month.   Gotten pricey but it’s definitely nicer than it used to be.  Conditions and obviously clubhouse.
