Wedge Customisation - Should I adjust Lie Angle ?

Recommended Posts

Hello, proabably a stupid question:

I plan to order a wedge and customise it to the loft I want. I understand this will affect the bounce 1:1. However, one article, which i cannot find anymore, state there would also be a 0.75 change in lie angle.

I can't imagine how it would work out or what i'd need to adjust. Anyone experienced can help out if it's true ?

I plan on ordering a 52* 8v and having it customised to a 51*,7v. (I want to get a good distance for ~110yards and i will prefer a lower bounce, so i plan to make it 1 degree stronger.)

I don't have any real issues from my previous wedges at the standard settings. (Callaway MD4, Taylormade Hi Toe) However, i do suffer hosel shanks with the Cobra wedge from time to time, and i'm also planning on getting a Cobra wedge, not sure whether it's going to be related to the grind ? (i doubt it - should be swing related, i guess)

OR, do i just order 1* strong and assume that it will all be compensated out ?

Thanks !

The best thing would be to order it stock and actually test the changes you want to make. Take it to a grass range (don't test wedges off mats) with a pro shop and have them adjust the loft until you

there is no change in lie angle. what you may have heard in the article was about adjustable hosel woods. Loft can be changed independently of lie on a bending machine.

The best thing would be to order it stock and actually test the changes you want to make. Take it to a grass range (don't test wedges off mats) with a pro shop and have them adjust the loft until you are hitting the carry distance you want and then do a dynamic lie angle test (vertical line on the ball) to make sure it's right for you.
