Shaft Question - Modus 120 TX

So here is the dilemma. Just built a setup with the Modus 120TX.   Only a week in, but  i have noticed from 6 iron thru 4 , that the weight and/or stiffness is a bit much for me.   The PW thru 7 feel great and love the control, dispersion, traj, etc.   but those longer clubs are a bit too much & tough to turnover when needed.      Sooooo, how best to remedy this…without buying another set of shafts..

1.   get divorced, buy whatever the hell i want & if that didnt work, just buy more. 
2.   Stay with these TX but try to SSx1 the 6, 5, 4 irons.   Or even SSx2 if needed. With this scenario i only need to buy single shafts

3.  I have the Modus 120X in the garage, should i throw those in the long irons??  What is the difference in play?   I never actually played them

4.   Ditch the TX and go to something like DG 120 TIX100.   Stiff but a bit lighter.

I'd definitely start with a SS of one to see if it works for you. If not then try two steps. In general terms each SS is equivalent to about 1/3 of a flex.

 

The fact that you have a set of 120X available is nice. You can just swap in the X flex as you do the soft stepping.

You could start with your longest iron and install one of your 'X' flex that you have.  That's the club that you wouldn't currently have a shaft for, if you went with the TX soft-stepped.

 

Just do one club, your longest iron, and see what it does first

One way to see if softstepping would be sufficient for what you trying to accomplish is just add headweight. 6-7g lead tape for each simulated soft step. Then choke down half an inch.

This feels like the cleanest solution to me. It will likely be the most problematic club so the easiest to notice a difference and you can decide from there.

How important is your marriage to you?  Will you be stuck with the mortgage and other bills?  How do you feel about partial custody or even no custody of your kids?  Do  you value your life, haha.  The best way to go about your dilemna would probably be to soft step them once or get your a** to them gym and do some strength and speed training.

In the fairly long Modus thread that is floating around, the difference between X and TX in the 120 was asked a few times.  Finally, someone contacted Nippon, got the word back that the TX are approx 11 cpm stiffer than the X (and, of course, a few grams heavier).

I'd suggest trying 120X in the long irons if they are in the garage anyways. I have found amazing success with E11S in my 3i. I get the perfect trajectory, perfect feel, everything. I had just that 1 E11 S. Then i decided to buy a set of E11S on ebay and play them in all irons. Epic fail. Crazy high launch, high spin, feel was off. Gross. So I play ORA X in my 4-PW and E11 S in my 3i. Maybe you'll find the same that you like the slightly lighter slightly softer 120X in the 4-5. Just keep an eye for any distance gapping between the last 120X and 1st 120TX.
