Generation 3 P790 in 2021?

So I called TM back about my delayed order and yes, the Project X 6.5 LZ is the reason for the delay. I got fitted on that shaft at my Club Champion fitting. I have three options and am looking for feedback. Option 1: The Project X 6.0 LZ is in stock and wouldn't delay shipping. Option 2: I can switch to the KBS Tour FLT X-Stiff without delay, or Option 3: Wait until November and game these next season.

Thanks for any advice or recommendations. I asked if I could just get the iron heads separate so I could just buy the shafts somewhere else, but that was a no go.

Option 2 if you like that shaft. I think these are going to sell like hot cakes so just getting your hands on these will be a bonus even if you can't play.

I’d wait to get the shaft you want. Or order two sets (one for now, one with the desired shaft) and sell one after if you really have the itch.

Probably a newb opinion/question but how different does the LZ play vs the rifle? Been playing 6.5 rifles in my 2019 P790's and I love them. Maybe check delays on those?

The Rifle isn’t a shaft option through TM ordering. I could order the 6.5s online and then sell the 6.0s when I have them swapped out. TM won’t ship me just the heads unfortunately 🙄

I ordered mine through TM custom shop. It's the drop down option "Projext X T" in the shafts section. when i process says shaft component available 8/4.

EDIT: Looks like the LZ has a higher launch and a softer tip section than the rifle. Not sure if that works for you or not.

FYI, the project X 6.5 and the 6.5 LZ play completely different and have a very different feel.

Thanks for letting me know. I may just order the project x 6.0 LZ, then try and find a place that has a 6.5 LZ and see if they would swap them out for labor only…or I’ll buy the 6.5s and then just sell the 6.0s

Does anyone know is there any adjustment to lofts or lengths in the new models? I.e have the 4 and 5 irons changed lofts or lengths.

looking to order 4 and 5 iron to blend into  p770, plan to stick to old combo guide with 4 iron 1 weak and 5 iron 2 weak.

This sounds promising…

I just about the same, just waiting for the possibility for pre order in Germany!

If you paid for a fitting, and found a shaft that works well for you, why wouldn't you wait to make sure you have the right equipment?

The specs for the `21 P790 is exactly the same as the `19 P790.

I totally get that, my concern is if I wait til November, what kind of delay will I be looking at for the heads at that point? They say things are set aside and whatnot, but I'd rather have them in hand and then worry about getting the right shaft on them, even if it costs me a little extra. I found a builder who has the 6.5 LZ in stock and is basically willing to rebuild the irons and essentially trade me the 6.0 LZ for the 6.5 LZ and I would only need to pay labor ($20club) , so I think I may go that route to ensure I get them for September.

You could ask if they can hardstep 1x or 2x on the 6.0 LZ?

This was going to be my recommendation as well. The shafts will be 5g lighter which I doubt you will notice.

I ordered the 770's back at the end of June with the 6.5LZ and called yesterday after the 4th delay and the shafts are backordered and the 6 and 7 iron heads are back ordered right now, estimated date is now November 12th. Looks like it will be 14 weeks total time which is crazy. But unfortunately there really isn't any options that would improve. When I first ordered the estimated time was 8/19.

Dang, that makes me feel bad for complaining. Now they are telling me the heads are delayed until Sept 22nd, which is the same projected date as if I ordered today, even though I ordered beginning of July.

I thought it was crazy that I can get the unreleased P790 faster than I can get the 770 by almost 2 months.
