Generation 3 P790 in 2021?

The TM site now isn't even showing the P790 option to even look at where just a day ago it was there but said sold out.  the P790TI is obviously still a choice.   They are pushing the P770 as that is the first thing that pops up on the home page now.  I hope this means they are working on the site to prepare for PRE-ORDERS for the gen 3 P790's.   I will wait this out for the new Released Irons as I was fitted for the current P790's and just loved them.

@TaylorMade Golf said we won’t even see them until the Olympics/FedEx cup, which is likely early August. I hope we see something before then, but I’m not holding my breath.

Yeah I saw that and I was hoping he/she was referring to when they will be available in stores and such. I'm hoping they will do a preorder soon so I can get them ordered and get them before the golf year comes to a close here in upstate NY.

When I was at my fitting with TaylorMade 2 weeks ago my fitter said that they would be released in August - September time frame and would be about $10 -$15 more per club than the current P790 price tag.  One thing he said they worked on with the Gen 3 P790 was getting rid of the occasional hot shot that a lot of people have been complaining about with the P790 vs the more consistent distances from the P770.

If they have better feel and a slightly thinner top line, these are going to end up in a ton of bags. I'm really looking forward to seeing them and getting some info!

Soon...and they're gonna be worth the wait.

A lot more P770 looking then current P790, will suit a lot more of the players who played these opposed to the mid handicapper.

With the new face and foam layout flyers should be a thing of the past, spin will be a lot more towards the “friendly” side which should help those who had to tweak lofts or use a different shaft to help hold greens.

They will blend perfectly with the P770 without having to change lofts like you do currently. Again TM had done an exceptional job at curving lines and shaping the head to make it appear smaller but still having a nice footprint that isn’t off putting.

Speaking of things that are off, the offset is a lot smoother and blends really well from long to short irons.

no idea what the UDI will be like!

There’s currently 2.5 degrees between the P770 and P790 7 iron. You’re saying they’re going to weaken the lofts of the P790 by 2.5 degrees? Or were you not referring to loft when you say blends perfectly?

Forgot to add, I called the rep up before placing order. They have available shafts just for this p790 launch. I was nervous not seeing what these things look like before ordering but the rep said very similar to current. I was fitted for the p770 because the taylormade rep said I hit the ball to far with my irons and gapping was off from my 52 sm8 to the p790 PW. The P770 looks great but frankly I'm older and want the forgiveness. I've never bought a set of clubs unseen before, kinda exciting and scary at the same time.

So you ordered them directly from TM’s website?

I love this site and these message boards.

Always thought I had a problem with ordering and trying too many golf clubs, looking for some magic. Buy, try, sell. Rinse and repeat. But ordering irons sight unseen, that no one has seen????

You guys make me feel a little closer to normal and it's cheaper than therapy!!!
