putter fitting - what to look for

I'm thinking about doing my first ever putter fitting. I'm wondering what should I look for in a fitter? I know some that don't use any equipment, like SAM, whereas others lean heavily on tech. Besides equipment, what else should I look for when choosing a fitter? Any recommendations for a good fitter either in the Bay or San Diego?

Evnroll is in Carlsbad. I did a fitting with them recently on Quintec and it was very eye opening. I thought I was an inconsistent putter but the putter I was using was putting a lot for backspin on the ball which gave me inconsistent distance control (my ball would skid and skip. The harder I hit it the more it happened so longer putts were a nightmare). My stroke, center contact, and face angle was actually very consistent. I just received my new ER1.2B and I had an unbelievable practice session last night. I have never holed that many putts. Playing twice this weekend and could not be more excited to give it a whirl!

I would highly recommend giving Evnroll a shot. They also have great custom options when you get fit at their studio.

i would recommend try going to a spot that uses quintec.

Anyone know if there is someone that has a quintic in New England? I tried searching Quintics website but only person they showed was someone in Seekonk, MA who is now in FL.

1. Selection, you don't want to go into a fitting where the have 3 putters and they're too short or too long for you. I know True Spec uses a modular system so you can try the same grip at the same length for every putter. They have a San Diego location but it's outdoors only and no putter fittings sadly. 

 

2. What do they use. SAM and Quintic are the most popular, most prefer Quintic but SAM is just as good and better than nothing.

 

3. Do they adjust as you go. A lot of putter can be bent or some places probably have a bunch at various lies, getting and trying the right length, loft and lie can make a huge difference in how a putter performs. 

 

I guess that's really it, first two are the most important honesty and being a brand agnostic fitter is a plus too as that opens more options for you vs just doing say a TaylorMade or Odyssey fitting.
