Cracked my dang sim

Cracked my m2 5w a month ago. I guess they don’t make them like they used to, lol. Check with the warranty dept at Taylormade, but it will take forever to get a replacement.

Join the club bro!!!  Cracked my SIM MAX last year.  Hope TM replaces yours because they sure as hell wouldn't replace mine due to difference of opinion.  Worked something out with the sponsor I got my SIM MAX from.  Upstanding guy.  TM will send you a shiny new SIM 2 if you're g2g.  Your either gonna love it or hate it.

Yeah, you pretty much have to buy from an authorized reseller and have your receipt. I will never buy a used Taylormade club knowing they have so many issues with the face cracking. And I now expect the life expectancy of their woods to be 2 years, which is how long the warranty is good for.

I don't blame you.  I have a SIM(not MAX) as my back up that I got through my guy.  There's a reason why its hasn't gone up on the bay or BST........

The sponsor I got it from is an authorized reseller and really good guy.  I didn't get a receipt though however, it's not my guy's fault my driver exploded.  This is the second time this has happened already with a TM driver.  Don't get me wrong I love their drivers and fairway metals, but next time I will seriously look into other OEMs more specifically Cally.

Just a crappy day altogether. Cracked my driver while on the range. Putting like I have 2 left hands. Can't get up and down to dave my life. And to top it all off...cart girl was buried in her phone on 5 when I desperately needed a beer. She passed us by even though I yelled at her 3 times. Needed a beer to get me off the bogey train. 

 

Things are looking up tho. Had a new sim ti 3wood in the trunk and debated putting it in 0lay today. Swapped it out for my driver at the turn, turned it down to 13 and playing it as my driver the last 9 holes. Also got a beer and chugged it.

Son shattered his SIM early this week. Custom NV 75X shaft.  Warranty claim thru website.   Quoted 6/20 ship date. Emailed them stating unsatisfactory result just need head or stock option since shaft still good.  TM replied back we’ll have a stock club shipped out in 2 weeks max.

You'll find the SIM 2 to be more forgiving and less fade biased.  I would say that it's still a low spin head.  If you really need something fade biased then OG SIM for sure.

SIM MAX wasn't the first for me.  R11 dot was.  I think it has to do with the faces of the modern drivers being so thin now.  Having such high ss like you and I doesn't do us any favors.  The guys on tour are always cracking the faces on their drivers you just don't hear about it 24/7.  The head pro who used to be over at the golf course my father was partner of the ownership group is friends with Brendan Steele and they both played for the UCR team.  This is where I'm getting my info from.

Lol. Perhaps. I'm going to look on the positive side of said karma and believe that I'm going to find a driver that's as long as sim but has the stability of a ping. 

 

Will be tough though. With the heavier backweight setup I had in my sim, i dont feel like it lacked for stability. Guess I'll find out soon.

 

I actually have hit it but only because I wanted to hit a ventus black and I only had that option, at the right swingweight, in a sim2 head. It's a performer. But I only hit about 8 balls, didn't care for the length of the shaft (I play 45"), and didn't really.like the feel.of ventus black vs blue.

Note: my sim has 18g total backweight. Std weight is 12g.

Same lofted head. Sim2 was better at 8.25. At 9 it was basically the same. 

 

I have OG sim dialed in. I turned it up one notch after reviewing some trackman data from a driver fitting. I leave the face open to path more than 1.5 degrees about 65% of the time. So I closed the face and put the slider weight toward the toe. Have played that setup since about October. I also have a 17g backweight with 1g lead tape back as well. 

 

Sim2 was very good. I didn't pay a lot of attention to dispersion but you can see where it is in that pic above. Both drivers were about equal there. Sim2 did produce a few more shots that stayed left, not went left, just didn't have my normal right falling spin. It seems it is very neutral CoG. OG sim is setup for a fade bias. 

 

I already ordered a 6g front weight and 22g backweight for sim2. Swingweight came in at c9 with my 45" ventus. Gotta get it up to d3.

Sim2 is a performer indoors. Very similar to my sim, although, I have a heavier backweight setup in my sim. The sim I bought Saturday got here so I was able to hit them head to head. Now just need to up the weights in sim2 and see if it still.performs. Indoor testing was with 6g of lead tape added. 

 

Outdoor stuff coming soon. And then on-course stuff.
