Internationally, it's not even close.  In addition to having the major and many more career wins, Sergio is a Ryder Cup stalwart (especially in team play) who was an absolute thorn in the side of America during Europe's run the last 20 years.  

 

Aside from the year where he Top 5'd all 4 majors, Rickey is basically Kevin Na with better marketing.

Fowler won an event in Korea, not Japan in late 2011. So 6 of his 8 professional wins (7 of 9 if you count Tigers event) came under the tutelage of Butch which backs up Fowler played his best golf with Butch.

Not disputing he played his best golf w/Butch. just that he won all his pro wins under Butch.

Completely agree. Na is in an amazing position - I'm sure he'd love to win more, but the dude has made $28M on Tour and can likely live a completely normal life.  Rickey has an annoying level of fame when in public, I'm sure, but a guy like Na is probably hardly recognized and when he is its like "Oh, it's just Kevin Na."  Meanwhile did is sitting on a pile of cash.

With one of the weakest fields he needs a good showing this week. Atleast a top 10 he cant afford another miss cut and be able to look anyone in the face at the PGA

We don't like ruining a good narrative with facts. Butch called it like it was and Rickie folded rather being a Kardashian Social media guy vs stone cold killer golfer.

 

In reality though can you blame Rickie for wanting to live the social media rock star lifestyle since he is already set for life whether or not he makes another cut ever? The whole point of playing pro golf is to make a living and he has done that to support himself until the end.

Garcia is an absolute phenomenal talent but came up in a time where he didn’t seem to press himself to the fore not to mention some of the greatest talent he was facing from the last 50 years.  
 

Ricky needs to focus more on Oklahoma State yesteryear films. And the girls he forsook his career. I like him and he looked promising for a while but he’s gone daddy gone now

It's interesting how people constantly say it's unfair how in women's sports your appearance on camera should not matter as much as it does. They say that the same thing doesn't apply to male athletes. This is even more so with golf since probably 90% of the viewership is men. My wife plays golf maybe 5 times a year. She watches it never. Her favorite golfer is Adam Scott for obvious reasons.

 

If Rickie had Rickie's record and was a frumpy looking dude, you would barely know who he is. I realize he won a Player's but, he is more marketable than his golfing ability, thus far, dictates, because of his looks.

 

Rickie isn't even close to as good as Sergio.

Clearly Sergio. Sergio is also a big what if... If he had the mental strength of Seve Ballesteros, he would have certainly won more majors and would have been the second best player of the 2000s and 2010s.

Rickie is a whole lot more likable, but Sergio is a much better player. Rickie still has time but there’s not much to indicate that Rickie will ever have the on course accomplishments that Sergio does.

I’m not a sergio fan but comparing rickie to him is an insult. Sergio had way more game, wins, etc.  than rickie. The only thing Rickie has on sergio is more airtime and smoking hot wife).
