Ol' Faithful

Yup, my old Scotty Studio Select... the model before deep milled.  I can't find a putter that feels better, and I have a display rack full of them at home now.  I even got it swing weighted to try to match every flatstick I have to it at D4, but can't get them just right still.  Just something perfect in how it swings and the feel off the face just feels spot on to me.  Weird that I can putt better with a blade than anything else.

Whenever my putting starts to suck I go back to my Titleist "SC" Standard bullseye.  That thing is old faithful but over time I get better results from new tech - the old lack of tech just resets my putting game.

I have played the same Mizuno Bettinardi C06 since 2009 or 2010. At one point I sold it but bought it back from the guy who never used it.

Usually when I move from a putter it's because the putter simply isn't working with my stroke.  Yes, the stroke could be the issue but I don't generally collect putters (at least most of my golfing days).  The putters in the past have usually found a new home by the time I worked out my stroke.  I have also gamed many putters that were simply not right for my stroke.  When I find a putter that performs really well why switch?  I usually putt with that putter for several seasons.  I've had three or four putters over the past 35 years that I've gamed for more than 4 years.  I've got one now that gives me no reason to try anything else.  Yes, I have some rounds when I could putt better but I know it is not the putter but a flaw with my stroke that day.  I have found the perfect putter for my stroke.  No need to change because my putter is 'Ol Faithful.

I don’t game it anymore, but I still have and love my old Wilson Tour Special Forged (the cheap 8802) that I bought new in ‘91 for like $39 bucks.  It was my gamer until about ‘03.

I do still use it a lot on the putting mat at home - it just has such a unique feel to it.

SeeMore DB4x.  I wish the company had continued developing the plumbers necks (and expanded lefty offerings).  Over the last decade, it has beaten out a couple Callaway sevens, a PXG Mustang, and a TM Spyder Mini.  Currently have a new Scotty 5.5 which might gain the edge.

Ping Zing2 BeCu with lead taped sole and blackout Pingman grip, although have other options to occasionally give a bit of mental reset, just most consistent for my stroke and have a great deal of confidence because made quite a few putts under pressure with it over the years.

SeeMore FGP I got off eBay for $35. I've tried Scotty Camerons, Ping Scottsdale TR, Odyssey Metal X Milled, among multiple others. I always come back to the FGP. Nothing beats how the face feels to me. My only gripe is swing weighting it since it's 330g head feels light in the swing. Working on finding a lighter grip to increase the swingweight.

Ping Pal from my grandfather.  He bought it because he was a Tom Watson fan and thought Watson was the best putter he'd ever seen in his prime.  He couldn't make a thing with it apparently and it sat in his basement and one day he gave it to me.  I've made miles of putts with it over the years and always keep going back to it.  It's been reshafted a few times, has a Dynamic Gold R300 8 iron shaft in it presently with a bunch of lead tape on the sole.  Feels exquisite.

The only reason I retired my old one was because my wife didn't like the fact I got it for my 18th birthday from my high school girlfriend (I turn 50 this year, fyi).

I'm half tempted to put a new grip on it and say it's different.

My first Scotty Cameron putter (OTR Studio Stainless Beach) always finds a way back to the bag and muscles out tour putters throughout the season. I've read stories where people regret selling their first so I sent mine to the CS a few years back to get my initials stamped and have it reshafted with a black shaftband & black studio design grip along with grabbing the limited edition headcover at the time.

This will be the first & last Scotty I'll own. 😎
