Making a prototype vs retailing it is vastly different. Even if the patent was still active, they could make all the prototypes they want. They just cannot sell them.

Yes! lost the patent when they went out of business

Kuch’s putter is like a Frankenstein putter. Put together from parts of other dead putters..

Well, consider my mind blown.

Pretty interesting to see the EXACT shape of the C-groove face with zero modifications milled right into a snazzy Bettinardi putter.

My first ever putter I bought to try to improve my game (above and beyond the one that came in my Walmart box set) was a Yes! so I have a little bit of nostalgia around it.

TEE C721 10.5* HZRDUS Smoke Black 60 X

TEE XCG 13* Whiteboard 73S PUREd

PING G425 Crossover 2i Alta CB S

PING i210 4-U DG 120 S

PING Gorge Tour 54*, 58*

PING 2021 Tyne 4 34"

The Bettinardi looks amazing. Almost a perfect replica. And it will have better feel. Not so sure about the Sheffield United logos....team just finished bottom of Premier League, sacked the manager who took them up and one of their players been arrested for lamping a member of the public.

@Tupperwolf if this Fitzpatrick Bettinardi putter= same as the 2020 version

then i think the grooves are different vs the Yes! Version

details in a previous Golfwrx forum thread, circa March 2020 (Linked below) ... but noted some folks have wittily nicknamed fitzy’s new putter the “Yes!Betti” 😬

What makes you assume it has a better feel? I still use a Yes! Tracy II as my gamer and have yet to find a putter with better feel...and I’ve tested many.

I prefer the feel of the Yes!Tracy III (with the swappable screw-in hosel), over the Tracy II ... I believe the Tracy III also have a different steel (303 & milled?) construction

Rakuten/ Golf Partner seems to still have many of these Yes!putters in near-mint condition

Dennis Paulson from inside the ropes on SiriusXM said he's been trying this method and said on air that it should be illegal..and if the right-arm lock didn't get arm-lock banned nothing will. Said it's stupid easy for people who release the putter.

I guess. I couldnt do it.. I saw Kuchar and thought "what the heck is that"!! So I tried it.. No bueno.. It is a weird push feeling, plus your hand and wrists are so contorted it hurts. Or at least it did for me.

Yeah maybe.. I honestly dont know. Maybe after committing to it for a bit it becomes natural.. I was just using a regular armlock putter so maybe a special built one for this purpose would work better.

I think it would definitely be a different setup..less loft for sure. Possibly different lie maybe.?. I wouldn't think it would be similar at all to a left-arm lock.

I also tried this after I seen Kuchar and agree, it’s very uncomfortable

I'd be willing to bet any patent on the Yes grooves has long since passed the patent period.  Isn't it 20 years time on a patent?  Yes! started around 1995 if I remember correctly and the "Swash" grooves were on other putters before Yes! even started up.

Yeah I’d say their time has came and gone.. although it would be really cool if they were able to get back into the business.. my first real gamer was a YES! Donna.. it was an amazing feeling club

This is quite inaccurate. You can be sued under a patent for making, using, selling, or offering for sale a patented product.  The patent was likely expired either by time or failing to pay maintenance  fees because the company went out of business.

Edit - Meant to quote the post you replied to , not yours.

Even though Yes! went out of business, they were bought at auction by Adam’s which was then acquired by Taylormade. I assume TMAG currently owns some type of intellectual property pertaining to Yes!. even though the patent has probably expired by now.

Sharing these patent details here, in case another GolfWRX’er is keen to explore further to see if the patent=still valid / unexpired.

https://patents.google.com/patent/US5637044A/en

I see this summary milestone mentioned:

“2015-10-12: Anticipated expiration”

“2017-10-13

Assigned to TAYLOR MADE GOLF COMPANY, INC”
