ESPN and the canceled women's NCAA regional

Typical short-sighted leadership.  Reason for the canceled event "not championship-level playable because of rain and standing water on the course."  Yet, professionals all over the world play golf in crappy, even ugly conditions.  It wasn't raining either.  Hell, the LPGA recently played at Aviara, using lift clean and cheat, because the course was NOT championship-level shape.  What the hell is happening to people in-charge, they be lacking something, guts or nads or both, not sure.  I know, they be afraid of Wokies... LOL

 

Given the weather then they should have asked the players.

They should have let the players and coaches vote on it, if anything.

 

We played a college tournament in pouring rain to the point of clubs flying out of hands. We played another one in a blizzard.

 

I’ve never heard of this course not in championship condition nonsense. I’m pretty sure they’ve played Major Championships on the PGA Tour that maybe this group would also deem not championship caliber.

It's amazing that so many of you were actually there and got to go out on the course to observe the conditions with your own eyes, and then were invited into the room for the Committee's deliberations. Your first-hand knowledge is invaluable. 🙄

The whole thing looked terrible.  The powers stood on top of steps looking down at the coaches and players and told them the course was playable, but not championship quality.  They then turned around and walked away while a coach asked what the definition of championship quality was.  Throw this in with the weightroom fiasco at the women's basketball bubble and it shows just how the NCAA views women's sports.

We’re following the lead of the coaches on site that did walk the course and the wishes of the players in attendance. Were you one of the ncaa folks up on the stairs looking down on them like so many corrupt dictators in history?

So...did anyone happen to catch the final round of the 21’ AT&T Byron Nelson tourney yesterday?  Pretty sure those conditions were playable although not ideal for tourney conditions.  Hopefully the NCAA folks tuned in.

They’re the same people who, had they played, would come on here and say “the tournament never should have been played under these awful conditions!”

The powers to be should’ve granted the courtesy of making the final decision to the coaches and the players (the boots on the ground who make the tournament).  Had the players been given the opportunity to play I doubt there would be much belly-aching about the conditions. After all, the NCAA did say the course was playable...

Did you see the manpower it took to get the last 2 holes in playable shape? Pretty sure the course didn't have those kind of resources available.

The same ones who would say "You see how the NCAA treat women athletes, making them play in subpar conditions, shortening holes and marking standing water as unplayable."

Like I said, the course was deemed playable by the very same  people who canceled the event.  Seems a bit contradictory.
