Low Point thoughts

Hi Guys,

As I progress through my improvement i find myself thinking about the lowpoint and how to control this, Lots of talk about positioning body to control this however my question is do you actually make a concious descision in your thought process to move your low point and therefore let your body adapt  or just change the body angles to match what you want to do with the club?

Yes you have to be conscious of where you are setting your low point on all shots because it's orientation in relation to the ball will determine the amount of leverage that you create.  You have to also see it as a certain distance in front or behind the ball and a certain depth into the ground.  This is a video that I made for one of my buddies as it is easier than typing it all out!! And playing on a course is gonna have all kinds of impact on where that club bottoms out. It isn't like hitting off a flat mat.

 

Flat perfect shots , at least in my experience is not the norm. Ball is gonna be above your feet, below your feet, up hills, downhills, side lies...

 

Practice swings definitely help. Finding that bottom for different lies is critical for my game.

 

Unless you have a practice place that gives you the various lies, its playing the game that will show me what the club does.
