Long weekend golf trip within 6hrs driving of DC

Looking for a guys weekend that's within 6 hours of DC. Already done Kingsmill. Looking for a place with: 

• Either the area multiple good courses or its a resort with multiple courses
• Decent accommodations nearby or onsite
• within 6 hours driving of DC

 

Considering Pinecrest, and would like to hear your opinions on it, but want other options.

Pinehurst would probably be your best bet for quality golf and number of courses available.  Just under six hours from DC.  I've only stayed at the resort when there but there are other accommodations nearby.  Not cheap but world class and memorable.  Another destination much closer to DC would be Ocean City.  No true resorts there but several good courses.  Tons of accommodations plus lots of night life. There's also a casino next to Glen Riddle if that's of interest.

I think 6 hours is far for a long weekend. 
 
I also suggest Ocean City MD.   It's also close enough to play 
on the days you drive.     There are about 15 courses, most short drives 
from lodging. 
 
Look at Pam's golf for info, even if you don't book with them.

Recently did a two-night, four round Pinehurst trip from DC. We played Tobacco Road in the afternoon on our drive down and one of the Pinehurst courses in the morning before heading back. Stayed off the resort at a Holiday Inn. Definitely doable, but yeah, a little more drive time compared to Ocean City.

If money isn’t much of an object maybe Nemacolin or the Greenbrier, both afford some great layouts on site with options on the way up or back home.   Both provide a nice diversion from the city if that counts for anything.  I did Ocean City few times and concur it’s a solid choice although I did have to drive a bit for the courses I picked.  Truthfully other than one course with an abundance of flowers I don’t remember much of my choices that trip.  
Richmond is another area that came to mind but may have to shuttle between courses.  Good luck with the search.

Pinehurst is the definitely the choice for a golf destination. Williamsburg has some nice courses as well though.

Also can consider the Homestead or the Greenbriar.  If you are okay with one course consider Primland or Bedford Springs.
