P770 users gap

Anyone else using 770’s have a large yardage gap between 7 and 8 iron? 15-20 yards?

Have the lofts checked.  ONE or BOTH are probably not right.

Havn't played the 770s but I played the original P790s and had that problem. The lofts were out of specs by a degree or 2 on pretty much every club. When I had them adjusted I had to have the 8-PW bent a degree or two stronger than standard to account for the gap I had between the 7 and 8. Can't remember exactly how I had them set up. It might not be a problem for all but I've seen others mention it with both sets because of the differences in construction from 7 to 8 iron.

 

Also I really wish I had kept those irons.

I’m just going by on course play but maybe I’ll get on a simulator and Yes I’ll definitely check the lofts.

I never hit mine on a launch monitor. I realized there were gap issues like you did on course and then had my local shop adjust them accordingly. I was originally just going to have the lofts adjusted on the 8-PW to fix the gaps but then had to adjust the entire set to standard then tweak from there.

 

I know the 770s are slightly different lofts then the 790s but If I remember right I think I went 2 degrees strong in the 8 and 9 and 1 in the PW and then it just worked out back on course.

 

I'd recommend going to a shop where you can hit them before and after on a launch monitor to save extra trips. I could have done that but I just happened to guesstimate right.

I gamed over 20 rounds with my 770s before getting my P7MCs, I found the distances to be very consistent personally.  As mentioned, I’d check the lofts.
