If you have to ask the question... "Should _________ be in the Hall of Fame?"  then they are not a Hall of Famer.

If Fred Couples is then yes, I think they all are.

Vijay is HoF’er under any criteria.

Not if I were voting...all have only one major. Furyk has 17 PGA wins as well so I'd put him closest, but still not in the door. But in what seems like a watered-down HoF, I guess you could put in Furyk and Sergio.

Think of it as the Hall of 'Excellence.' They're all really good players, but not who I think of as truly outstanding.

They are the Willem Dafoes and David Hasselhoffs of the world compared to Brad Pitt or Tom Cruise.

Famous? Yes... But not in the same league as Phil, Tiger, Jack, Arnie, etc., etc.

Exactly, if you use him as a threshold then Days record is just as good and JF and SG are better.

They really need a separate, “inner” HoF where, except BJones and some UK guys, the standard is 5 majors.

I think "body of work" should come into play at some point.

So, if I were voting for inclusion, Furyk (17 wins, a US Open, a 58 and a 59, still 3rd on the career money list (in the Tiger Era)) and Garcia (perennial top 15, a Green Jacket, a Players, Ryder Cup record, numerous world wide victories, on tour since he was 19) would get my vote.

Jason Day, not yet.

How about Martin Kaymer?

They all will be at some point as they have met the current requirement.

A few things here:

1) making a mistake in the past does not obligate anyone to make it again. So FC doesn’t need to be the bar forever.
2) Day is short of Fred Couples’ career by several wins

I mean, if that’s the bar, JT a HoFer right now!

Agree….some seem stuck on the idea of 20+ wins and 2 majors being mandatory.

Using those standards there would  currently be just 28 guys in the hall.

The minimum requirements to get on the ballot are 15 wins on a "major" tour or 2 majors, correct? And that's just to get on ballot ... Furyk and Day are just squeaking in (although you would think Day has a lot left in the tank).

I think Sergio is in, especially with his Ryder Cup record.

Day will be.

Furyk ... no, but close.
