When you bring the putter back, where are u looking?

Doesn't really matter as long as you're good at it....

 

It's so easy to flush the putter you could close your eyes if you want to.... in fact its a great drill.

 

The most important thing is where is your attention.  I look at the ball in a general sense but exactly is not important, my attention is where I'm hitting to.  Can you see in your minds eye exactly the spot.  It's easy to do with putting cause the swing is slow and the ball aint moving.  If you were throwing the ball you look where you want to throw, if you playin tennis, ping pong, hockey or softball you look at the ball or puck but your attention is not fully on the ball you are thinking where your hitting to... no different.  So take advantage of the fact that the ball is stationary and so you can focus even more on where you're hitting to then you can in those other sports with a moving ball.... jus sayin

Not simply the ball, but a tiny spot where the impact will be.  You’d be amazed at the importance of that.

I use a "straight back, straight through" putting stroke with my face-balanced Sigma putter.

 

I set up with left hand low, make sure the putter is aligned properly, and then look down the line with my right eye over the ball. (Right eye is dominant). Then a look at back of ball and pick up pin with peripheral.

If that works for you great! 

 

But I find it doesn't matter where you look as long as you are mentally dialed in where you are hitting it... look at ball, look in front of ball, look at cup, look at spot on hill its gonna break at, heck close your eyes as long as you know where its going to cause so easy to flush a putt...

 

Imagine you were gonna shove the ball forward hockey style you would def not look at ball but target, so you have to have your attention yonder even if lookin at ball.  But I would recommend not lookin back as that is further from target but you could still do it if you own it...

I figure out my line first and commit to that line (hopefully there is an intermediate target to use on my intended line).  Then I do practice strokes until I feel what speed it would take to stay on that line I've committed to and see the ball go in the cup (I don't like using a marking line on the golf ball).  I watch the ball, and I see the ball come off the putter in my through stroke.  I know immediately if I have missed my line or hit my line.  If I haven't mentally committed to that line during my putting stroke, it's typically a push.  Rarely do I ever pull a putt.
