Adjusting head weight for counter balanced shaft

I’ve been using a Project X Black 5.5 shaft in my driver. I just got a HZRDUS RDX Smoke Blue in 5.5 to try.
 

Pretty sure the new shaft is counter balanced. Should I add a little weight to the head to be able to feel it a bit more, or does that defeat the purpose of counter balancing?

I’d say it depends how you want it to feel. The swing weight should be lighter now, and maybe you swing it a bit faster that way? Ping makes their drivers with counterbalanced shafts, but their heads are also a bit heavier. Adding more weight to the head could make it more forgiving and get the swing weight back to normal.

Just get some lead tape.  Head weight should always be adjusted by feel on the range after any shaft change, never by value alone.

Reviving an old post...

 

Did you ever get the RDX Blue to feel right?  I recently picked up a driver with an RDX Blue and am having a heck of a time swinging it in a repeatable manner.  The feel just isn't right.  Maybe it's the balance point, maybe it's the softer middle combined with my aggressive down swing.

 

I swapped the shaft out to a Hzrdus Black and all is well, same length, flex and weight in both.  I don't want to give up on the blue just yet but the only other counter balanced shaft i've had (Tensei Orange) was eventually given up on and I'm beginning to think CB shafts aren't for me.

No, it turned out to be a bad fit for me. I’m now in a Tensei Blue.

Exactly. Hit it as it is and then experiment a bit to see if things get better. My MOI my drivers at 3000, but the SW varies some.
