I like a golf course that will give me one or two long-ish par 4's (440 - 460 yds) as a great challenge, but a full day's worth of 470-500 yd ones would make me quit the game.

That was me in my younger days. Now 400 yds are more than enough for a challenge. Fortunately, most golf courses are equipped with a system of tees that let the players choose the challenge of choice... One hopes there are shorter options on that ocean course. Not that I ever will have a chance to play it.

He’s firmly stuck in reverse gear early doors. Needs to stop the rot otherwise he’ll add his name to the record books of a first round leader in. major to miss the cut like Rod Pampling did at Carnoustie.

Yea I’d need to see a measurement with him fully standing straight  up to believe 6-2. Even there he’s hunched somewhat.  A lot of tall folks graduate to that posture  too. I catch  myself doing it.  It’s a day to day coping deal. You try to get down to everyone  else’s eye level.  But golf of all things makes me mindful of it and I try to straighten up as often during the day as I can.

Me too he’s prob about 5’7” and a centimeter. Rickie is smaller like 5’6”. I stood very close to both and I’m 5’7” and we were very similar heights.

I understand what you are saying but even if he got to -8 it still wouldn't insure against his bogey, double bogey runs. He is too old. Then too, in his defense, somebody will get hot. I'm guessing the winner will top -10 by Sunday afternoon.

-10?  Not a chance.

 

These two days are the easiest this course will play, in an effort to keep the course fair for each side of the draw.  I'd be willing to bet Saturday the course will be nearly tipped out on the front nine, and then on Sunday when the wind shifts the back nine will be pretty much tipped out.

 

If someone gets to -10, they'll win going away like Rory did in 2012.

You did get one thing correct in this post, and that Rory would fit in well with the other hobbits. Her front foot is on the same plane as Rory's back foot. Nothing forced perspective here, which deals with far more than just being on a different plane, which is not the case here. She's also wearing heels. She's also three inches taller than him, at least, in reality, so, her being at least nine inches taller than him here makes sense.

Now that Spieth and Rory have no chance to win, other than Hovland or Morikawa, I want it to be someone who will absolutely set the forums on fire like, Poulter, Slick Rick, Bradley, Koepka, or Phil. The meltdowns and drama would be fun to watch.

Rory is far from out of this. He has a decent day and gets to 1 or 2 under.. He is in the thick of it..

This is 2021 and the PGA Tour. These guys can score. Somebody more than likey is going to get hot. Thats how you win on this tour, even majors.
