2021 PGA Championship - Phil!

Anyone, but just not the bitter, curmudgeonly supreme BK please.

No doubt Phil has the ability and desire to win today but as noted in another post it’ll be his mental strength that’ll enable him to get over the line and keep big numbers off the card. Take out 1/2 lapses (tiredness?) in concentration and he’d by leading by 3 shots minimum for the last round.

You apparently didn’t see how many Phil left laying on the lip or running over the lip today.  Flip it around.  If Phil makes those he’s -11 at least right now .

Really? Is Phil is the only player in the PGA field near the lead that had a bunch of putts on the lip or ran over the lip of the hole in a given round? What if What if What if.....

I don't care who wins but for the sake of WRX burning itself down I hope Phil goes full DJ at Pebble Beach in the 2010 US Open final round (82) just to see the mental  gymnastics/excuses people go through here trying to justify what happened.

We have an epic final pairing on the final day of a major! I for one am totally ok with either Phil or Brooks winning it. Both are really entertaining to watch and have swagger. Add an awesome golf course with some (hopefully) substantial wind… Let’s go!  As for Streelman and Louie. We have established that Streelman is a great human being and great golfer. Then there’s Louie. A really solid player as well. But… Compared to Phil and Brooks… Yawn.

What was Phil doing when he first got to the range? They were measuring the clubface or something.

I can't recall the name of the device but it measures the air density/humidity on & around the ball so that Phil is able to more accurately calculate the levels of spin that the ball would produce.

Any chance the rules officials review Oosthuizen’s drop on No. 13 Saturday & DQ’s him for signing for an incorrect score or retroactively assesses him 2 strokes for playing the ball from the wrong place?

Maybe if the USGA was running the tournament.  Phil said it crossed the hazard line pretty much straight away.  Case closed.

If I was Louis & I happened to win by a stroke, I wouldn’t feel good about it after seeing the video replay, but that’s just me.

Apparently the sarcasm was lost in text.  I simply was saying the exact same thing you just said.  To show the what if’s don’t work.

Bruce’s putter is ice cold though , can’t really escape that.  He’s going to need some gasoline to pour on it and a match to light it up to win today.

Watched all of it once the leaders teed off and yes Phil missed some putts, and I always root for him.  However if Brooks was in the lead going into tomorrow, he won’t let it slip, he is stone cold.  How do you figure Brooks will need help to win?  He’s 1 stroke back.  I would say Phil is more likely to hit a few errant shots, history has shown us that.  Plus there have been several instances just this year where Phil has a few good rounds and then has a shaky round.

Well. If he shoots 70 again today and there’s not much wind like yesterday . That won’t win.    It’s just easy math.  Someone will shoot a good number.

Brooks has the best caddie amongst the leading pack and think Ricky Elliot could be the difference today.

Agreed. And not to keep harping on this but I stand by my earlier prediction that the winner will need -10 or better, probably with any conditions, to win this. But windy conditions and I think Koepka has the best shot. Well to be truthful any situation favors Koepka but yes he will have to make putts for sure. I was shocked he didn't sink more. As for Phil he very well could have imploded as in the past on the back nine issues. Maybe we all need to find a hot wife to practice meditation with? He certainly showed us something yesterday.

Brooks ball-striking was fantastic yesterday, but putting very poor,he had a chance to be a few shots ahead by the end, rare to have perfect ball-strking two days in a row,and instead is a shot behind Phil, who I think will struggle today, especially with the stronger wind, cant see either of them winning today, one from the pack behind but who?

Random thoughts:

I am really looking forward to this final round. I only hope that it doesn't become boring early on with Koepka being the only one to play solid golf and everybody else falling victim to their particular weaknesses, Phil to errant tee shots, Louis to his ice cold putter and Streelman to his lack of length.

BTW Phil:

Being concerned in his conversation with the rules official that his lie in the bunker was BETTER than before after replacing his ball on Louis' footmark.
Stating that Louis' tee shot had crossed the hazard line way ahead and that his own hadn't.

Does anybody else play a drinking game, which involves the expression "sandy area"?

What ist Vern Lundquist good for?
"And now, Brendan Grace"
"And now, back to 12"
