Callaway Hex Tour Soft Alternative

Found one of these balls and love it. Since they aren’t available anymore, what’s the closest alternative?

 

I also tried the ERC Soft but didn’t like it as much.

It’s hard to put my thumb on it exactly. The Tour Soft was just straighter and more consistent for me.

 

In contrast, I’ve read that the Diablo Tour is a close match, but it feels harder to me.

Kind of in the same boat as you. I loved the costco callaway hex tour soft, but I don't think costco sells them anymore

I asked their Director of Marketing for golf balls about this ball about 18 months ago when I first ran across it. His response was:

 

"The Hex Tour Soft is actually a really good ball.   I would say the ball that most closely matches the performance of the Hex Tour Soft is the Superhot golf ball.   Both are 3pc Surlyn covered balls."

If you're looking for a decent 3 pc Surlyn ball, please hold the tomato throwing for a sec, try the new 2020 Top Flite Gamer.  I thought it felt nice off the club and performed very well.

The Diablo Tour is harder, although they perform, the feel is more clicky.  

Also, IMHO, The new Kirkland Ksig 3.2 is a fantastic ball, especially for the cost.  Played yesterday with a 4 and 7 handicapper and that is their gamer.  I've hit longest drive with it and it has a ProV-1 kind of soft feel to it.  Maybe a tad softer.

This is probably the closest readily available Callaway ball (Dicks/GG) but the cover is definitely noticeably harder.  The Hex Tour Soft felt somewhere between the Supersoft (2 pc) and the Diablo Tour which was a really nice balance.  Reminded me a lot of the Top Flite Gamer Soft from a few years back.

I played a full round with the ERC Soft today instead and it worked out fine. Didn’t like it as much but I think it’ll be my substitute for now.

Did you play with the version that just came out or the original? I played the original for the better part of a year and got to "test" the new version. Both versions are good and I think the ERC is very underrated.

Glad you found something you like.  I just don't think I could see myself paying that much for a non-urethane ball.  So many urethane balls available for less than the ERC soft and tons of non-urethane balls for much. much less.

Costco started selling the new black Callaway Hex Tour golf balls. There's no info on the packaging other than it has a hybrid golf ball cover for longer distance and more spin.

Nope! This is what I got from my local US Costco. No mention of Hex Tour Soft. Just Hex Tour.

Interesting. I thought I saw this in a pic my friend sent me a couple weeks ago from a Costco in Kansas City. I’ve been checking online and local Costco’s (Bay Area), but haven’t seen this ball for sale yet. Hopefully they will start stocking them

We just got in a pallet and the top layer was almost gone. I estimate they may have arrived earlier in the week.

I'm curious as well, since the Kirkland balls seem scarce right now.  I can't even find any info online about them.

According to Callaway, The Superhot is the closest in performance to the Hex Tour Soft. I don't know that the feel is the same.

They had a Hx Tour that came after the Hx Red and before the Hx 56.

 

I still have several dozen of the above.   Never tried any of the ones after these.  One thing I don't get/like is why Callaway can't settle on a name and stick to it.

 

Pro V1 & Vx  have used the same names since the Rule 35 was born and 36 +/- name changes for Callaway and growing.
