A fairly weak field this week with a good chunk of the players who played in Asia taking the week off. It's s good chance for the rookies to make a splash.

Weather looks decent with a slight chance for rain on the weekend.

I'm going with Brooke this week. 'Time for the #1 ballstriker to make some putts. Sei Young needs to get going as well. Yu is my darkhorse pick.

Well this one is another ballstriker park but @Argonne69 is a better man than me, I have no clue what Brooke's putting will look like lol  Judging through covid, I'm beginning to think she like a 65 Ford you're trying to drive in January. better give it a little time to warm up or it's gonna rattle, shake and knock till things get warm. 😂  Myself, I'm gonna go with Lexi, she's due for one and plays quite well here.

I would agree with most that Paula hasn't lived up to her hype when she won the Rookie of the Year Award in 2005, but no one can deny that she's a great golfer.

She played in an era when international players, not just the Koreans, were a much big factor than ten years before that.  Winning on LPGA became very hard during her era.

In any case, welcome back Paula!

Normally, I would have chosen Lexi on this one, since @Stooch took her, I'll let him take the cake.
I'm gonna go all out with In Gee. Kupcho as my darkish horse pick. Gabbi Ruffels anyone?

Ariya won this in 16,18 2020 was cancelled...in keeping the pattern going 2021 would kinda be that every 2 year thing...

First reshuffle will take place after Pure Silk:

Why this week's event at Kingsmill is a make-or-break moment in the 2021 season for several LPGA pros

"But with a closer look, the stop at Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, Va., is actually one of the more critical weeks of the year for LPGA members, specifically those who earned their cards via Q-Series and have limited status. After Sunday’s play wraps up, the LPGA “reshuffles” the priority list for tour members for the first time since the middle of 2019. That means players have one last tournament to earn critical CME points and potentially set themselves up for more access to events for the rest of 2021."

It would seem, the current list was changed once the event started (or I didn't notice the alternates this week), they no longer have all the alternates listed, only one Sarah Brown.  Although the alternate list could have been that wide open ........... They have Vicky Hurst playing this week, I imagine her status is very low.

A ton of familiar names that haven't been able to get into many events at the bottom of the entry list.  No idea what kind of form any of them would be in but glad they get a shot.  Going with Anne Van Dam to break through this week, with Matilda Castren as my sleeper pick.  Will be rooting shamelessly for In Gee and SYK as usual.

Vicky's priority is even lower than a past fav, Kris Tschetter.

I had to look at Kris's priority to understand how she's in the field.

I chatted with Kris at the 2003 CWO....she gave me 2 sleeves of Hogan Apex golf balls when she was clearing out her bag....I still have those 2 sleeves somewhere...never used them.

One of my best friends (who doesn't play golf)...his father attended the same med school in Detroit with Kris's dad...both are/were eye surgeons/ophthalmologists....he also attended Kris's wedding...both were avid golfers.

In the 70's....there was a chartered plane out of Toronto that flew down to the Masters on Saturday for a one day excursion....the charter package also included a large donation to Augusta...my friend's dad got onto the plane for the annual trip when another businessman no longer attended.

Sadly my friend's dad passed away too young of cancer during the week of the 1992 Masters...RIP.

@Argonne69 Is this Sarah Brown = different or same, vs the erstwhile “School of Golf” co-presenter with Martin Hall?

That Ms Brown = “Sara no H” , correct? (Albeit she was also a talented golfer/ had some Symetra card previously?)

Scoring looks tough this morning. The morning wave is more that half way through their rounds, and less then half of them are under par.

Bianca Pagdanganan is off to a rough start.  She’d better turn it around quickly, or she’s unlikely to see much playing time on the LPGA this year.  And Brooke is scuffling early.

At least she came home with 2 birdies to finish +2...but will need a good rd tomorrow to avoid a trunk slam.

I think I recall reading a post last year that some did a Captain America and claimed that Bianca would be a Top 5 player....LOL.

Definitely a head scratcher when it comes to scoring. Only 43 players under par. Fairways were firm, and drives were getting a ton of rollout. I guess the greens were on the firm side and not that receptive.

Lots of names you usually don't see at the top of the leaderboard. With the weaker field it's definitely an opportunity for the lower ranked players to step up.

No surprise Paula got so much coverage. Michelle got the red carpet treatment for her return. Don't mind seeing a few shots, but when she's 5 under it's time to move on. By the way, I'm getting old. Sheesh. I can't believe it's been 9 years since Paula was in the extended playoff with Jiyai.

What on Earth happened to In Gee? Yikes. 6 over in her last four holes including a triple on the final hole.

This thing is far from over. The players at even par just gotta keep it together and avoid pressing.
