What public par 3 would you most like to make a hole in one?

Recommended Posts

Ill assume Augusta #12, or Cypress Point #16, would win in a landslide since it would mean that you got to play all 18.  And Im sure Pine valley has lovely par 3's but nobody outside of a select few really think about holing out on the one shotters there, as they have virtually no broad exposure (unlike Cypress's raw beauty and Augusta's prime time tournament).  Another thread got me asking myself:

If you could hole out on any public access par 3 what would it be.

If I had to pick one, Sawgrass #17.

If you aren't aware, they give you a bag tag engraved with your score on #17 after your round when you go into the locker room.

Teeth of the Dog.  Holes 5, 7 and 16.  Take it on any one of those.  Then Pebble #7.  So add that to my 3 previous HIO's and I would have

I can see it going both ways.

Make a big number and get your tag as a funny reminder. Or "forget" to get your tag.

I've got mine with a 3 on it. Easy 9i to the middle of the green, two putts. 👍

The only time I played Pebble, I knocked a wedge on 7 to 2.5 feet (yes I made the putt). Pebble #17 is a much harder shot so that gets my vote.

It has been years since I played at Pebble, but I still remember playing 7.  The first two guys over-cooked it behind the green, after seeing their shots go long I tried to play it safe but ended up a little too safe and I went short and left.

I believe that 6, 7, and 8 at Pebble is one of the best views anyone can ever see on a golf course.

Everyone remembers their first on 7. I went left bunker, thought I accounted for the wind enough but I obviously did not lol. If that shot went in I'd probably talk about it every round I ever played again and my playing partners would hate me.

Sawgrass 17.

You could say to your buddies every year when The Players rolls around, "Huh, I made an ace on that hole," just as a pro rinses one.

(Honorable mention for me, that follows none of the rules set forth in the OP, is Riviera #10.  It is private and it is a par 4 but it would be sweet to get an ace there.)

17th at Sawgrass. Even non-golfers talk about that hole, so it’s an easy conversation with anybody whether they golf or not.

Obviously we don’t get to pick where (or if) we get our hole-in-ones but I certainly will never complain about where I got mine: the 8th hole at Bethpage Black. Actually one of two aces on the course that day, with the other coming on the 17th hole. If you get an ace there they engrave your name on a plate and hang it in clubhouse. Pretty cool to think of all the pros (and hacks) that have passed by my name since August 15, 2013.

IIRC that was your first round on the Black.  The report you wrote was one of the most enjoyable and heartwarming reads on golfwrx.  I guess I could go find the post, but I'll stick w my guess.

For me Bethpage Black #17.
