RobotDoctor's bag (May 2021 edition)

Pics of my bag and what's in it.  I just picked up this Sun Mountain 2.5 bag with the Byron Morgan embroidery.  My signature describes what I am gaming with exception of the new 5 wood I just put in.  The 5 wood is a Taylormade Sim Max 18 degree (tour issue head that is actually 19.1 degrees).  I am trying a Diamana D+ 80g shaft to see how it performs.  I'm still gaming BestGrips Augusta Microperf grips.  The grip in this thread is the longest used at 5 years now and going strong.

😂🤣😂  No kidding, right???!!!  I don't normally play my persimmons and usually hit a few drives with them.  Maybe when my swing becomes repeatable and reliable I may play them more.

I normally take persimmons out for the occasional nine holes in the evening. Like you, I use more up-to-date gear for most of my golf.

A couple of years ago, before a back injury which put my swing out of synch, I played some full persimmon rounds because I was hitting the ball well. I'm hoping to get back to that.

 

But I agree, you need a decent reliable swing to really enjoy eighteen holes with persimmon. Otherwise, take the modern stuff.

I've got a few persimmon drivers I can really hit well.  The M85W (with serial numbers, that I got from Fred), the M43T (no skirt weight, I also got from Fred), and my LFF.   My Crenshaw twin M85W is too much of a monster for me to hit but I'll try that again.  My EDO finished 945W probably will never be hit but my other 945W definitely will.  I'm lucky in that I have a few great drivers to choose from.  🙂

How do you like the icons? There is a used set at a local golf shop and I am tempted to get them. They look great overall and at address.

I've a few I can hit well as long as my swing is in the groove. I've also found a 3w to be a lifesaver when the swing isn't in the groove, especially if I'm playing with modern balls. I struggle to get enough spin off the driver with modern balls, but I don't have that problem with the 3w.

I have been a fan since I was 8 years old, nearly 50 years now.  At least the Cubs won a World Series during my lifetime, which is more than a lot of fans can say.  Go Cubs Go!!!

Spent a lot of afternoons with the usual foursome watching Harry from the 7th inning on after work, before we headed out for a few holes  or softball.  This was all pre-light at Wrigley, more than once Harry had us going so hard for so long we just hung together reliving the prior innings.  Softball afterwards had some stellar moments.

 

Miss those days which is likely the reason I enjoy the classics so much.

My first game at Wrigley was in April 1975, a Saturday game, a bench clearing brawl (instigated by Ted Simmons), lower box seats behind the Cubs dugout (courtesy of a friend of my Dad's) and the Cubs won.  No singing "Go Cubs Go" back in the day, no Harry Carey although we had Jack Brickhouse and Lou Boudreau and WGN.  I was 2 years into my journey as a Cubs fan and seeing Wrigley Field in person cemented me as a life long Cubs fan!  I have been to far too many games to count but the following game had special meaning for me, for all of us Cubs fans.
