Forged TECs or TMAG P790 are a great choice.

I use the TECs . Incredibly forgiving and easy to launch. They are a bit bigger in terms of head size than clubs like the P770 or I500 or Apex Pro --So a bit more confidence inspiring. But they still have the oversized blade look which will appeal to a lot of guys

My last two sets of irons have been forged Srixon's (i-506's and now z765's). I think these are an ideal marriage of cosmetics and playability. They are much more forgiving than they look. For some reason they still inspire confidence. Maybe it's the small amount of offset? I know that many other "players" irons intimidate me at address, notably the T100's.

I'm planning on going through an iron fitting sometime in the near future. I would say irons are the strongest part of my game, but I'm definitely still in need of at least some margin of forgiveness. That being said, I am looking for something that can provide a decent amount of forgiveness while still providing some good feel and not looking overly chunky. I've been researching a lot of different clubs, and some that have caught my eye are Callaway Apex (or the deep cavity option if I need it), Mizuno jpx hot metals, or some towards the hollow body market like TM p790s. So, any recommendations on irons that look a little bit sleeker but still offer a reasonable amount of forgiveness to seek out and try?

Bottom line, get the most forgiving club you're willing to look at. Everyone has a different definition of "forgiving", "feel", and "chunky", so you're the best person to narrow down the numerous suggestions here (almost all of which, I agree with). Top lines are subjective, depending on what iron you're coming from and used to. I have a friend who has played butter knife blades for his whole life including his Miura Tournament blades, he went to a cavity back Miura in the 4-5i and says "it feels like cheating", but even T100 toplines are "too chunky" for him (which I find laughable).

For me, GIR's are an area I'm always trying to maximize, but I also play a lot of partial/touch shots from <140y in. In my longer irons, I'm mostly thinking, high and straight, so I want more forgiveness and care less about feel. If this rings true to you, I would recommend a combo set as many have said here, this will give you the look/feel you are asking for on the shorter irons (even if it is just 8i,9i, + wedges), then something you think is more forgiving in the top end (again, even if it's just 4-5i). Most manufacturers have skewed their offerings to be flexible to blend sets as needed.

For reference, I play the Apex '19 combo w/ the cavity back Pro's up to AW-7i and standard Apex in the rest of the set. I like the new Apex's, but would probably blend in the Apex TCB or Forged in the short irons, as I prefer a non-hollow iron for the shorter clubs. I also like the Srixon ZX7/ZX5 combo, and have been a fan of the JPX line for awhile. That said, I have no need to change now, the Apex 19's give me everything I want.

Cobra King Tours look and feel great. Played 5-6 rounds with a buddy's copper set while I waited for mine to arrive.

Copper looks cool, chrome looks clean (and smaller). Copper finish started to show wear pretty quickly.

Definitely happy I got the chrome finish.

Feel is fantastic. Very soft feel on good strikes.

Miura CB-301’s. Perfect combo golf looks, forgiveness and ball speed. Loved the T100s also, but they were too small for me.

Whatever you do you need to test them on grass. Turf interaction makes all the difference. Glad I waited and did my fitting outdoors.

I'm interested to hear some more feedback about these. Saw them in a video week or 2 ago, then TXG came out with their video. It'll be interesting to see how people like them. I started golfing last year for the first time in 5 or 6 years and am still using my old Orlimar Black Ice complete set, so these look like a good option to try out!

I  bought a set, 2* flat with x kbs and utx grips--Ian really hit them great...

Definitely Srixon gets my vote, I'm a bogey golfer an have the 785 in 8-PW and I have no issues hitting them and honestly prefer the look and feel more than the 585 and kinda wish I had the 7i in the 785.

Others would be the T100 line, i210, 919 Forged, Apex Pro and many others. Lots of very nice looking irons without that shovel look forgiveness.

If I had to wish for the ideal iron head design, It would be a medium length blade with no more that 3mm offset, thin sole with slight camber, thin topline and a clubhead MOI of around 3250. THIS is the perfect description of a Unicorn cause it just doesn't exist.

Until I find this clubhead, I will continue to play my MP5s (MOI = 2150).

MOI is 2300. Nice looking head, but performance is no better than my players though. It's almost impossible to recognize a difference unless the MOI changes 1000 or more.

The kicker is, once head MOI gets up to around 2500, the designers start increasing offset, topline and sole width. Why not just focus on the MOI and leave everything else alone. Engineering-wise, it's completely possible. They just won't do it. I've seen several heads I was really excited about until I see them in the playing position. Then I slouch in disappointment and continue my quest.

C'mon OEMs!!! Design a players head than has true directional forgiveness and leave the rest alone!!!!!!!!!!!!! We don't need more distance, help getting the ball airborne or excessive sole camber.

Can't get em anymore but these are close. Maltby PTM. I have owned almost every set listed here on the GI range and still keep sets of DBM and PTM for outings. It's kinda fun posting a decent number with clubs nobody heard of before and they're pennies on the dollar compared to big box brands.

Agreed! Maltby and Golfsmith have had some great designs (most of the GS were Tom's). I still have my Snakeyes TC-1s. But look at the DBM for instance. They could scallop about 1" across the inside bottom of the cavity, thin out the topline and put tungsten weights in the heel and toe to bring the MOI considerably higher. But that would probably turn a $33 head into a $88 head!
