If this has already been posted, I apologize.  What is like your best find for low money?  What was it and was it a yard sale, online, goodwill, estate sale, someone didn't know what they had?

As a CEO, my best buys have been the companies of struggling competitors.

Also, my trusty 2 iron. I often come across younger men who underestimate me as they simply see an old man. That changes when I blow a drive past them with my 2 iron. And it never misses a fairway.

Those Taylormade LETHAL PRACTICE balls a few years back that were accidentally shipping 3 dozen for the price of 1 dozen. Can't remember for sure but I think it was something like 3 dozen balls for $9.99 and I bought 9 dozen.  Brand new 5pc urethane balls.

Not even the KIRKLAND balls have ever been that good a deal.

Found a lefty Circa 62 #2 in the bargain bin at a golf store, it was super cheap. Bought it, took it home cleaned it up and took off all the dirty and patina on it to show a basically mint condition putter underneath.

Guys are always posting in the Classic Golf and Golfers section about great finds they ran across at Goodwill, etc. It is probably just where I live, but I have never found anything worth grabbing at Goodwill around here.

That said, in answer to the OP's question, it would have to be my current set of Ping S59s that I snagged a few years back at Roger Dunn's for $125.00. They needed regripping and the 8 iron has a different serial number than the rest of the set, but I still think it was a bargain and they play great!

Ping S59 irons 5-PW
Ping bronze J-Blade putter
Titleist 910D2 driver,
TM Jetspeed 3W & 5W
Ping Rapture 21* Hybrid
Ping Eye 2+ SW, Hogan Special PW

Are these Ping S59s good for a beginner?  Forgiving, good large sweet spot, etc.?  They look pretty awesome.

They are awesome. I have read that Bubba Watson gamed them on tour for 14 years, even after Ping tried to get him to switch to a newer model.

I'd have to say no. They are forgiving, but for a beginner, if you want to go with Pings, I'd suggest any of their their G-Series. Guys still love and game the Eye-2s and ISIs. I wish I still had my Eye 2s. Frankly, while my S59s work well for me, I'd probably do better at my age with game improvement clubs.

Yeah, I have a set of Eye 2's now.  Great condition and got them for $100.  First lesson is tomorrow night.  I have been trying for almost two months to get lined up with a good instructor.  Finally, it is going to happen.  I was liking the looks of those S59s.  I trust the call on them not being totally for a beginner.

Back before Dick's Sporting Goods bought Golf Galaxy and for a couple of years after, GG once a year or so would have ridiculous sales, at least the one that was near where I lived did.

If you went into the store at the right time, there were great deals.  At a certain time of year they just took like 70-90% off stuff that was was already on sale, it was crazy. What was funny was the GG near me was in the same strip mall that had a Dick's at the other end,  Dick's almost never marked stuff down, they would have 3 year old Taylormade stuff still listed at the original price.

I remember getting an Odyssey Black #1 putter with a milled face for like $30 new, like this one. black-series-1-2614-1.jpg

Also an Odyssey full size staff bag for $30 brand new.  I know I got some other deals, but those stand out.   Still have the bag, it has fulfilled is intended purpose, holding all the clubs I have purchased over the years..... kind of wish I had hung on to the putter, but I think I traded it in later somewhere else and doubled my money.....

Brand new set of 3-PW s55's on the bay for $250 shipped that had not even been hit...  I was browsing around late one night and signed off the computer to go to bed.  Went to the bathroom and remembered a Glide wedge I wanted to purchase....  signed back on the computer but couldn't find the wedge and decided to look at some s55's...  they had just been listed a few minutes earlier with the "buy it now" option...  I couldn't hit the "buy it now" button fast enough...  LOL!!!

A couple of weeks ago I was on the book of faces marketplace just generally browsing around at PING clubs...  ran across a listing with the title "PING clubs" that contained a couple of woods, a putter and a set of i210's with C-Taper Lite stiff shafts.  They were asking $450 for the i210's but stated "local pickup only".  I sent the lady a message and offered to send a box for her to ship them to me as well as offering to cover all shipping costs.  They were ~280 miles from me and I actually considered driving to get them.  The lady messaged me back and gave me her husband's phone number and suggested I call him to see if he would be willing to ship.  It turned out he was a really nice fella and said he would have no problem shipping the i210's...  he told me he had purchased the i210's last year but had not really had the opportunity to play much due to covid and wanted a set with different shafts.  I transferred the $450 to him that day and the next day transferred the money to him to cover shipping costs...

Last week I was again on the book of faces looking for an older set of PING G-series clubs for my wife as she decided she wanted to start playing...  I ran across a set of G5's 4-PW in really nice condition for $100.  They should be here in a few days and I will be re-shafting them with some ladies flex shafts...
