Charles Schwab Challenge 2021

The Tour heads to Colonial for the 2021 Charles Schwab Challenge. The 2020 edition was the first event in the “return of golf” and seemed to have a really deep field, it seems like it is closer to a regular event this time around although it will be interesting to see if Phil tees it up after his exertions last week. How often do you think we will hear about Colonial being a shot makers course this week?

Flight home, then back to Texas in a couple of days - wonder if the first two days will be more like a victory lap for Phil, he has to be exhausted.  Then he can rest and camp out at Torrey.

I wish tickets weren't $250 right now for Fri/Sat.  Ugh.  I understand there are a limited # of tickets, but ouch.

Read something this morning saying that he is due to take two weeks off before Torres, it will be interesting to see what he does.

Yep.  In a group text last night I put out whether Phil misses the cut this week by under/over 5 strokes.  As important as his focus into him right now this has 2 day victory lap written all over it.

He'll surely play the Memorial?

 

I'm surprised he didn't take this week off, but if he plays this week and next it will give him a couple of weeks to be ready for Torrey.

You don't get Ryder Cup points by playing Champions Tour events.

 

I bet we don't see Phil on the Champions Tour the rest of the season, unless his form goes to trash as the summer goes on and it becomes clear he won't be on the Ryder Cup team.

I think it's great how we can call 7200+ yard par 70 courses "short", but I digress. I don't hit 340 yard WRX bombs.

after seeing the scores shot by JS and others it confirms that he/they never got comfortable on the type of grass at Kiawah, he hit it well enough but never quite got the speed or the grain correct on his reads

Kokrak seems to have been up there quite often lately. Sneaky good like. Seems like a cool customer. Havent finished really high up in the later tournaments though.
